Trent failed at recruiting
So why did he succeed in recruiting at Stanford? Did he lose his recruiting skills? Sounds to me like he couldn't sell himself to the coaches or players in THIS state. ...

quote]So every successful coach is born with a passion for the university and state?
You still haven't answered my question. Why did Trent succeed at Stanford and fail at LSU? To answer your question. No they don't have to have a passion for the university or state. But the...

So those who think every Alleva hire has been great, answer these questions. Why do coaches succeed at one school and fail at another? How responsibile is the A.D. for the success the coaches they hire? Apprently, if ESPN likes the hire then the AD is in the clear....

I said he should gauge the interest of the person he is hiring before making up his mind. That was the point. My mistake for leaving out Mainieri. Alleva is definitely 2 for 4....
Pat Murphy was a big name coach. Does that not meet your expectations regardless of the connections?
Don't get me wrong, I want high expectations. But, I am a big believer that many coaches fail because of the situation, not their ability. I would compare it to the NFL. Jaso...

Alleva's method of hiring

Posted by northlatigazz on 4/12/12 at 9:45 am
It seems to me like Alleva's problem with hiring coaches is that he makes up his mind before he even speaks to the candidate, and the candidate is usually a long shot. Case 1: Pat Murphy. Alleva shot for the moom and spent the whole time selling LSU to Murphy. Murphy didn't really want the job...
The article is dead on!! And the last two coaching hires have been as interesting as glue drying!! No wonder the program has been in a coma. Bring us some charisma Joe!!...
It's not rocket science. Recruit, get a couple ballers, and program fixed... Hello NCAA tourney.
You are right that it does not take long to turn around a basketball program. But walking into a basketball rich area in Memphis after Calipari has teed it up or taking B...
Steve Prohm, 37, just finished his first season as the head coach of the Murray State Racers,
So am I reading this correctly?? Alleva is going to choose between Pohm with 1 year's experience using someone else's talent Pastner? Neither having any idea how to build a program tha...
"We can't hire this guy or this guy cause LSU basketball is a joke."
We can't hire these people because they don't want the job. They want a raise where they are. LSU football had to drop down to OK State to get Miles. The SEC is not the best conference in basketball like it is...
What's Gene Hackman doing these days?? He was awesome in Hoosiers! ...

I like thinking outside the box, but I don't see any experience at a bcs school. I would like to see at least some experience as an assistant at a high major....
There is a long way to go before regionals. Settle down....
He is not even a possibility....
Look at the whole resume. Look at the ability to recruit all over the country. What have any of the (realistic) candidates done? Wake up Tiger fans...LSU basketball is not Kentucky basketball. ...
Was Marshall a mid major when Billy Donovan was there? Was Boston University when Providence hired him? Texas A&M just hired Billy Kennedy from Murray State....same league. ...
Why do we keep using TCU's language for our hire? TCU thinks Trent is a homerun hire. Too many LSU fans want to make a splash today. All of that will be forgotten by the time we are in November and football is in the top 10. No matter who is hired, the next hc will make his mark from Decembe...
