Why do you have to bring up Jory's death. .. Now I'm sad. ...
Right. Married a Tully out of duty. Robb married Jeyne out of a duty to Jeyne to make her honest after getting her preggers.
Both were done out of duty but Ned chose duty to family not to the girl. If Robb had actually "pulled a Ned" as described he would have married a Frey and ...
Yep. Exactly. Robb is Ned 2.0. He is truly Ned's child and his mother sat there and watched it all play out again, which is the most tragic part of it.
I see this written a lot but it isn't true. Ned was presented with an almost identical situation prior to marrying Catelyn. He ...

Is it possible that Varys knows them because of his connection with the golden company? Daemon Blackfyre was the favorite son. It is possible he had knowledge of Targaryen family secrets. If he told Bittersteel it could be a secret passed down through the Golden Company....
I'm on page 200 of a dance with dragons, where did y'all read about how dayne died?
It is described in Ned's dream in AGOT. If you missed that sequence you should go back and read it. Some of GRRM's best writing imho....
After all of his battles with Divorce, H1N1, and most of all massive chronic Depression, Lynch's 3rd Book in the GB sequence, The Republic of Thieves comes out in October.
I did not realize there was a release date set. That is exciting news. Is there any info out about the story ...

On first read I thought it was excellent but not quite as good as Name of the Wind. I need to reread it though as I was so excited for it's release that I read it in 3 days and likely missed a good bit. I will also second all those Gentleman Bastards recommendations. I'm currently reading Red Se...

Jaime's scene with Brienne in the baths where he explains why he killed Aerys was some of the best acting I've seen on tv. I really enjoyed that episode. Kissed by Fire S3E5....

Blackfish was a bamf. Admittedly part of that vote may have come from seeing how close his match with Brienne went, but I think this would be a close fight and one that Blackfish in his prime would have a chance at winning. He was Jaime's hero after the war of the Nine Penny Kings....
I can't remember, could Jory have escaped?
Jaime killed Jory in Kings landing when he met Ned in the streets. This was when Ned broke his leg. Jory was awesome. I wish he could have lived. ...
One of the things I was struck by on the reread was Martin's characterization of Waymar Royce. I think it's indicative of the way the series goes and it's one of the reasons I love ASOIAF so much. Martin sets him up the entire time as an arrogant son of a bitch that feels good to hate. But, when ...
I have never read the books slowly. It will probably be good for me. I haven't posted in an ASOIAF thread in a while. This should be fun....
