if they want to continue to provide TOPS
This is the type of question/opinion I originally was meaning to ask for in my first post. With the state budget the way it is, what is the likelihood this program eventually gets cut? Someone said healthcare is booming in BR right now, bu...
Can you do anything else besides O&G,
I got into it because I worked offshore during college. I do design work for new offshore facilities, so it was a natural transition. I'm certainly not opposed to other facets of engineering, and assuming I passed the PE last month, I would h...
But shouldn't you put YOUR (immediate) family above others? It almost seems selfish to sacrifice YOUR (immediate) family for the company of other friends and relatives. Besides, Houston is only a 4 hour straight shot from Baton Rouge.
The benefit of moving back to be closer to fami...
It's just the first leg of a planned city-wide network of walking trails that will connect nearly every BREC property from Santa Maria to the LSU Lakes to downtown to independence park to the Zoo.
quick to disagree with the advice you are seeking
Not really, I have just considered some of the points already. Going back and forth on property taxes and state income taxes is kind of moot, unless there are numbers to go along with it. I know people in each state who say they w...
Yes, you pay higher property taxes (if you own a home), but here in Louisiana, you'll pay both
I'm not overly worried about this. The numbers I've looked at, and compared with people I know who have owned homes in both places, the difference between each scenario isn't drastic....

Life in Louisiana - Considering moving home - ellis mike the tiger
Wife and I moved to Houston after graduating about 7 years ago. Since we've had kids, we've debated back and forth about moving back near Baton Rouge to raise our family. Closer to friends, family, just being back around our kind of people and preferred lifestyle in general. Our debate has been h...

The testmaster classes are at night and on the weekend, so time off isn't a problem. I'll get a raise, but not mid-year. We just got a new CEO and he's trimming fat in a lot of business units, so everyones budget is tight this year. The percentage raise that it was with the old CEO was definitely...

If testmasters has started than I'm SOL for that one. After taking it though, do you think it was worth it enough to have paid for it with your own money? My department at work won't pay for it. ...

re: PPI review course for PE exam - ellis mike the tiger
PPI makes the same claim. Apparently there are requirements for working extra problems on your own and turning them in to get the free re-take if you fail. If it really helps people pass, the money is worth spending....
