re: F-150 prices are about to plunge, get ready
Posted by GeauxOn on 4/16/24 at 8:01 pm
I adamantly believe trucks are overpriced, but to expect prices to be the same as 8-9 years ago is a bit disingenuous. You have to at least reasonably expect prices to increase at the rate of normal inflation, not in the least considering the cost of Biden inflation. ...
re: Powell: Fed can maintain higher rates for "as long as needed"
Posted by GeauxOn on 4/16/24 at 7:33 pm
I also truly think the old croons in the FED do not understand the purchasing behaviors of the new generation. Saving money is not a priority for the younger generations as they have pretty well accepted they will be working until they're 70+ with no social security to rely on and they also live in ...

I say all the following as someone who works for one the nations largest wholesalers, if not the largest depending on metric and work intimately with manufacturers. I believe we are in a bit of a vicious cycle where manufacturers are increasing prices because debt is expensive, but there is no scal...
re: Louisiana people living in Texas - Are you a Texan?
Posted by GeauxOn on 2/2/24 at 11:59 am
I've been in Texas 5 years now and plan to stay here for the long haul. That being said I will never consider myself a Texan just a Texas resident, Louisiana will always be home. ...
re: Then they came for our Zyn

While I don't disagree that big government likes to enact legislation to ensure optimal tax revenues, it doesn't exactly apply here. Cigarettes and OTP (Other Tobacco Products) are taxed differently. Most nicotine pouch (TDN) users were already users of OTP and in most tax jurisdictions TDN and OTP ...

For those that aren't familiar with the tobacco industry. Zyn is owned by Swedish Match, also the manufacturers of White Owl and Game little cigars. On! is manufactured by Helix Innovations, which is owned by Altria, who also owns PhilipMorris USA and USSR, so Marlboro and Copenhagen. Velo is manufa...
re: Then they came for our Zyn

The tobacco industry would be investing $0 to Schumer for this stance, quite the opposite. TDN (Tobacco Derived Nicotine) products (aka Zyn, On!, Rogue and Velo) are a fast growing segment for all the major players in an otherwise declining category. Zyn, owned by swedish match, is the dominant bra...

Yeah I seem to remember the box combo being around $5 when the Cane's first opened in Houma. ...

re: LSU should do all they can to fight a bowl game with ND
Posted by GeauxOn on 11/27/23 at 4:39 pm
The matchup in regards to winning doesn't bother me at all. What is annoying is playing a team we've played in multiple bowls in recent years. I really wish there was bowl tie in where we could play a west coast team like Arizona that we have only played 3 times in our history....
re: Are conference championship games going to continue?
Posted by GeauxOn on 11/27/23 at 4:33 pm
As of now they are set to continue, too much money for them not to be played. They will basically be a de facto "playoff" game to determine seeding. The problem that can happen is it is entirely possible you could see the same teams play 3 times in a season. For example next year, the big 10 is goin...
re: White Americans think they are mostly German but they are mostly British

Thank you for starting this thread. It led me to doing my ancestry via family search.org and its pretty awesome to see where my family comes from. My surname has records that trace all the way back to 1535 in the Cancale/Saint-Malo region of France.
Unsurprisingly a large % of my ancestors came ...
re: Question about owning a franchise restaurant
Posted by GeauxOn on 7/19/23 at 3:14 pm
I'm not a 100% sure on Subway, but typically what happens in the food service industry is the Corporation will negotiate a purchase with suppliers/manufacturers, i.e. Tyson. The corporation then contracts to a wholesale distributor to pick up from supplier/manufacturer at x cost and dictates to sell...

re: Study: Louisiana loses college grads to Texas and other states
Posted by GeauxOn on 6/6/23 at 10:10 am
I left for grad school in Texas after graduating from LSU. I had intentions of returning to Louisiana after finishing my masters, but after 2 years in Texas, my decision quickly changed. I may not stay in Texas forever, but if I voluntarily move anywhere else it'll likely be Florida for retirement....
re: ESPN plans to launch subscription streaming service geared toward cable cord-cutters

I just want one streaming service to offer a nothing but sports package. I don't need any other cable channel just give me ESPN, MLB, Golf, FS1, etc....
