re: A recruiting perspective: Did we get out of the B12 at the right time? - MizzouJim
"With the rise of TCU and Baylor, creating 4 sustainably good programs in the state of Texas, did we get out at the right time?" To answer your premise for this entire thread: No. Missouri made its own fortune. Schools have always heavily recruited Texas, especially instate. We'd get more kids...

re: A recruiting perspective: Did we get out of the B12 at the right time? - MizzouJim
It isn't a coincidence that we leave and take our resources more to the southeast, and THEN TCU and Baylor get better. Our presence is missed. Not to worry, we're devoting more resources again down there. We're coming back for more kids, and we'll get 'em. :nana:...

re: The defending AL Champions: KC Royals - MizzouJim
Nice start to the season, but I would curb my enthusiasm some. Of course I hope they roll all season long and win the World Series, but it's a long ways until then, with plenty of pitfalls along the way. Not raining on any parade here, just old enough to remember and live through the 70's up...

re: Comments from J3's father -- significant for the KA haters - MizzouJim
It's a coach's job to create chemistry, environment and culture, it doesn't just happen. KA has had a year to make progress. It's clearly not there. Further, you're making the jump that it is Haith's fault but not Anderson's, which I find interesting, but Haith is gone and Anderson has been here ...

re: Thoughts/Predictions on DGB's draft stock - MizzouJim
I was speaking in terms of athleticism/talent. His issues off the field are what hurts him. Plus I said that before the combine. Didn't think Kevin White would perform as well has he did. Very solid draft for receivers! All in all, I hope my Chiefs snag him.
Raw tale...

re: Thoughts/Predictions on DGB's draft stock - MizzouJim
Everything I have read says he is the best overall receiver in the draft. His character off the field is what's in question. Best receiver to come out since Megatron. There is no question that the guy is going to be an absolute stud. The question is, can he stay out of trouble?
...

re: Give me your grade on KA in his first year - MizzouJim
Then he should get an F because he is the worst coach in school history.
He is not the worst coach in school history-yet. This was the worst season for Missouri basketball since 1966-1967 under Bob Vanatta, who may have been Missouri's worst basketball coach. This year Ande...

re: Why is Mizzou better than Tenn? - MizzouJim
In 2015, why will mizzou win the east over the vols?
The better question is, will Georgia finally play to the level of their talent and not Richt away a game or two. If so, will they finally win the East and maybe the SEC? Georgia should be the favorite and I believe the Vols wi...

re: People who want Anderson fired after 1 season - MizzouJim
Anderson: minor league experience in division 2 as a head coach before coming to major college Mizzou. I don't know of any coaches that were successful at a major college basketball program within a couple of years after having come from division 2. And by successful, I mean NCAA tourney qualifying ...

re: People who want Anderson fired after 1 season - MizzouJim
He's done as much at the previous level as Pinkel had done, so yea, that comparison is at least a little accurate
But that's the thing, Jagd. Anderson hasn't. Pinkel was a success in Division 1 football at a non-P5 major college Toledo. A more fair comparison would be if Anderson h...

re: People who want Anderson fired after 1 season - MizzouJim
A coach is only as good as his players
There's a lot more to basketball than just talent that a coach controls. Coaches can't change players innate talent, but they can teach players to execute basics, play in a disciplined manner and reduce mental mistakes as a season progresses. ...

re: People who want Anderson fired after 1 season - MizzouJim
Forget KA's Mizzou connections for a moment. If we had hired a random older coach that had been at a non-Division 1 program, I would have had exactly the same concerns. If that coach took 12 years to win a title at the lower level and didn't even make the tourney 5 of those 12 years it would have se...

re: I'm actually starting to think Anderson will be gone after this season. - MizzouJim
I was very much against his hire, but once he was hired, we were pretty much locked in for at least 3 years and probably 4. That's just Alden, who listened too much to certain old-guard alums at times. Now that Alden's out, the new AD will give Anderson a year under his watch to study how he runs...

re: What are your biggest concerns for the 2015 football season? - MizzouJim
I see the East being a 3 horse race in 2015. UGA Mizzou And the Dark horse Tennessee
That's how I see it too. You'll notice most of our posts are self-deterministic. We know what we have coming back and where we need to improve/replace personnel. We aren't worrying about what a...

re: Best winning percentages over the last 10 seasons (2005-2014) - MizzouJim
Two of those are not the same.
I guess we should just use SEC membership years, then. Missouri 28-12 (.700) Texas A&M 28-11 (.718) Both teams are slightly better in winning percentage since they joined the SEC. Isn't it wonderful what membership in a successful, great c...

re: Haith says he could win 20 games at Mizzou - MizzouJim
It's possible that Haith's answer is the right answer to the wrong question. The roster would have been different, the program still in a continuum. But the continuum was downhill. 20 games maybe, but with what? An NIT invitation? Here are the right questions: Would Haith have led this progra...
