Belarusian athlete Violetta Skvortsova, who won the European Youth Championship, left the pedestal due to an error with the Hymn. Officials asked the athlete to return and threatened with disqualification. However, she flatly refused to participate in the ceremony. As a result, the organizers of the European Championship apologized to Skvortsova and promised to re-award later.
19-year-old Skvortsova won a triple jump.
