South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier has apparently had The State columnist Ron Morris banned from writing about the Gamecocks football team. A former colleague of Morris’ told Jim Romenesko on Wednesday...

“The publisher of the paper has removed Ron from any coverage of the football program, which down there is akin to the Washington Post not letting Dan Balz write about government,” “Effectively, he’s being forced out at the behest of the football coach, with the publisher not standing up for him.”
At a presser in 2011 Spurrier was so upset with Morris, he refused to answer anyone’s questions until Morris left the room. Then last fall Spurrier blasted Morris on his coach’s radio show.
