Les Miles received a seven-year contract extension and a raise from LSU on Wednesday, one day after reportedly fielding a lucrative offer to coach at SEC rival Arkansas.
quote:

"Les Miles is one of the premier coaches in the country and has LSU in contention for championships year in and year out," LSU athletic director Joe Alleva said. "Only two coaches in the 119-year history of LSU football have coached as many years at this school and only one has won more games. Les Miles has made a commitment to LSU and LSU is solidifying its commitment to Les Miles."

LSU has not released details of Miles' raise, but his previous contract paid about $3.75 million annually through 2017.

so the guy inherits a championship caliber program with one of, if not the best recruiting territories, and because other programs are desperate for a sure-thing non-chizik-disaster-in-waiting, we have to give him a raise every year and pay him almost as much as the saban's of the world? the CFB labor market is ridiculous

"so the guy inherits a championship caliber program" - are we really still using this argument??? He has been here over 5 years - no player is eligible to play college football for 7+ years - therefore everything here currently is his own doing (recruiting, etc.). We went undefeated in the regular season LAST year. It is his program and has been for some time.

You're welcome to become an Alabama fan, at least in this instance you'll be supporting Saban and we won't have to listen to you degrade Coach Mile anymore.
