Following the Baylor's 52–24 win over Kansas State on Saturday night, defensive coordinator Phil Bennett was a little excited...
quote:

“Alabama? We would have beat them tonight!” Bennett said in the postgame fray. He continued on that thread by giving a rare shout-out to a once bitter conference rival of Baylor’s when he said, “That’s why Texas A&M is doing well in that league … SEC teams don’t face anything like us.”

It amazes me that people keep talking about Tx A&M as if they are the conference champion or something. Reality is they beat Bama, that's all. THey are 5th in the conference right now and 3rd in the West. Against the top 3 teams they played in the SEC, they are 1-2. They are good, but they aren't outstanding. I guess people are just trying to grab hold of something that makes them think they can hang with the SEC.

I remember when Phil was LSU's DC, he did a pretty good job with what he had to work with. He had a similar tirade after the jamie howard interception clinic at Auburn in the early 90's. Phils a quality coach.

I think you guys are over-analyzing this JUST a little...he means on that specific night he thought his guys could beat anyone.

Now...is that statement crazy as well? Yes.

But honestly don't you agree with the saying "If you think you're going to lose you shouldn't be on the field".

That's all that's going on here...move along. Check out the Poliboard or something.

I could be wrong, but aren't they like 6th in the conference? When all the dust settles they will be more of like a Miss State, middle of the pack with some flashes of moderate success. And, Mizzou will be like Ole Miss, they will get there hype but it will always be "it just wasn't our year".
