The SEC's 25 Best Players: No. 9 Jake Matthews

John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports
ESPN is ranking the Top 25 players in the SEC in 2013, and we will be featuring the Top 15 on the SEC Rant. Texas A&M OT Jake Matthews came in at No. 9.

The ranking is based solely on performance during the 2013 season, and is based on how players performed in key games and clutch situations. Here is what ESPN had to say about Matthews:
quote:

Matthews earned himself a spot at the finalists' table for the Outland Trophy with his play this season and was a first-team All-American. He moved from right tackle to left tackle and was part of a unit that helped Texas A&M lead the SEC in scoring offense (44.2 points per game) and total offense (538.4 yards per game). Matthews excelled in pass protection and was equally effective as a run blocker.
