Chapel Hill, North Carolina, UNITED STATES
Former N.C. State wide receiver Charlie Hegedus has transferred to Georgia as a walk-on and will be eligible immediately due to an NCAA hardship waiver.

Hegedus, a native of Marietta, Ga always dreamed of playing for Georgia but never received an offer from the Bulldogs out of high school.

Here is what coach Jep Irwin had to say about Hegedus, per AJC.com:
quote:

“He will fit well in at Georgia,” Lassiter coach Jep Irwin said. “He’s a Michael Bennett-type of player.

“He’s a reliable kid who can block, catch screens and also make plays down field. He was a sophomore (at Lassiter) when Hutson Mason was a senior and had the big year for us. I think he will be a really good fit for what they are trying to do at Georgia.”
He will have two season of eligibility left at Georgia.

The height of a michael bennett, the speed of a rhett mcgowan, the hands of a Kris durham, and route running of a michael greer. That's who I'd compare him to.
