Former Tennessee and USC coach Lane Kiffin has proven to be, what you'd call, a horrible coach. And now we can add recruiter to that resume. According to csnchicago.com, this is how Kiffin tried to recruit former South Carolina and now up and coming Chicago Bears star WR Alshon Jeffery...
quote:

In 2009, Jeffery was in the midst of a recruiting battle between Tennessee and South Carolina. He later committed to South Carolina. Kiffin, then coach at Tennessee, was heavily involved in the recruiting.

According to Jeffrey, Kiffin told the future Bear if he committed to South Carolina, he would end up ‘pumping gas for the rest of his life like all the other players from that state who had gone to South Carolina.’
Jeffery has 75 receptions along with 1,193 receiving yards and six touchdowns this season. And as of Tuesday evening, not pumping gas.

Oh Kiffin. Not many losers are relevant enough to be so hated by the masses but somehow this man pulls it off...

I remembered this funny recruiting story but didn't put together that it was Jeffery. This was a good time to revisit it given how things turned out. Maybe a "Remember when..." on the headline.

AJ completely misunderstood. Kiffin meant that one day He (Kiffin) would be pumping gas, not Alshon. He's pretty damn close to being right.

This is just astounding. This is ancient news. This isn't even Germans, it's more like Franks. Astounding.

I still can't believe Kiffin landed all the jobs he did..

Don't like Kiffin, but this is an insult to South Carolina not Alshon. If Alshon took this personally then he dumb. Of course, if Kiffin took Alshon's decision personally he pretty dumb too.

No way you're earning a paycheck for this Larry.

I used to wonder and laugh at how all the commenters would give you hell Larry. But now I know why they make such fun of you and what you pass for reporting. You literally rehashed what was news nearly 5 years ago and used it to fill your quota. Amazing, hey did you know Bill Clinton cheesed all over Monika Lewinsky a while back? Perhaps you could use that one next week, tie it into what Muschamp has doe all over Florida?
