According to the USA Today database of college football coaching salaries, Ash made $550,000 last season. According to an Ohio State football spokesman, the Buckeyes will be paying Ash $520,000.

A university spokesperson said the actual contracts of Ash and new defensive assistant Larry Johnson have not been officially finalized and are not available.

Here is what Ash had to say about the OSU job:

In a statement released by Ohio State, Ash said, “I was attracted to this position because it is Ohio State, and I had to wonder if I ever would have this opportunity again. This is one of the top five college football programs in the country."
Prior to Arkansas, Ash spent the last three seasons at Wisconsin working under Bret Bielema.
