Not romantic, but ww2 museum is something I would like to do without my two young kids

second for commander's
spend one evening strolling the french quarter with a cocktail
if you aren't from this area, a plantation tour, swamp tour, and cemetery tour are ideas
WW2 is a great museum

without the kids.
Makes things a lot easier.
I would do dinner/drinks one night at Bacchanal if the weather is nice. It is an outdoor wine patio/bar with music, beautiful ambience, great wine, and good food. It can be very crowded on the weekend but it can also be a very fun experience. It will be hot as balls so don't get all dressed up.
For your "nice" dinner, its a harder call as there an abundance of great restaurants, and it depends on how dressy you want to get and how much you want to spend.
Commanders and Le Petite are great suggestions.
I would throw in Coquette.
Shaya is simply one of the best restaurants there is. Modern Israeli. reservations are EXTREMELY hard to get, but the food is outstanding.
Peche for dinner seafood. High end but casual, great food.
Brunch: Atchafalaya (reservations), Elizabeth's.
Lunch: Cochon Butcher
