We are renting for a week a cabin near Ellijay, GA. What are some must do activities around the area? Wife and I and our 3 children (20, 9.5, and 5.5 years of age).

Should we plan for a day in either Chattanooga or ATL? If so, any suggestions other than a Braves or Lookouts game?

Chattanooga has a lot of fun activities. Lots of hiking. Pretty decent aquarium. Lots a good restaurants. Rock City/Ruby Falls/Incline for touristy stuff on Lookout Mountain. A few civil war battlefields.

Atlanta has a lot of fun stuff for sure, I would go check out their new ballpark over the lookouts.

East of where I usually like to stay, but Blue Ridge Lake can be pretty nice area.

If you want to travel a good bit west toward Highlands, NC/Dillard, GA, can give you tips out that way.

Canoeing or Tubing

Ocoee White Water Rafting

Blue Ridge Calendar of Events

There's a bunch of stuff to do in Chattanooga as well.

I would head into the city for at least a day.
Dalhonega is close by for a quick day trip and some food.
Outlet mall down 400.
Apples might be starting to be able to be picked.
Amicalola falls, the Appalachian trail, and lots of other hike spots/sights
Tubing, canoeing or kayaking down a few different rivers. Couple of lakes near by as well.
Helen(I am not a fan but people love it)
Big motorcycle and dirt bike area as well.

Rock City in Chattanooga is pretty terrible but he 9 and 5.5 year old may enjoy visiting. Overpriced to hike .5 miles through these gnome decor caves.

Menton, Al has some pretty nice hiking trails. I think it's the highest elevation in Alabama and pretty close to the Tennessee and Georgia state line.
