Originally I was thinking St John, but with free cancelation, points and the companion pass with SW, I've decided on the Bahamas. Work is hectic and this trip may have to be canceled last minute.

Right now I fly into Nassau Tuesday 22nd and out Friday the 25th, may push that back to the Saturday or Sunday.

What island and/or resort do you guys recommend? I'm open to a quick BahamasAir flight to any of the other islands. I've been to the Cove Eleuthera, and did a day trip to Harbour Island and really enjoyed it.

Those are two good choices. St. Kitts & Nevis and Anguilla are others to consider. I'd suggest Roatan but you're getting close to the winter rains and wind at that time of the year.

I would go with St Johns. Trunk bay is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world in my opinion.

St Kitts and Roatan both felt more run-down to me.

Well, St. John is awesome and Trunk Bay is up there. It's also among the most expensive islands in the Caribbean.

I'm curios as to why you thought St. Kitts was run down. Where did you stay? We were on the southern end of the island facing Nevis and it was anything but run down. There's a ton of new development going on at that end of the island.

We rented a villa overlooking Nevis.

Roatan is affordable. If you stay at West Bay Beach it's a great spot. Coxen Hole could be named shite hole and the name would be appropriate but there's really no reason to go there. The diving in Roatan is as good as any in the Caribbean.

I've stayed on Peter Island. It's very nice, very uppity and very expensive.

St John is definitely more expensive, but I think it's worth it.

Yes we were not on that side of the island, and I have heard better things about it. In general St Kitts was just not as nice to me.

Roatan is good for diving, but I was definitely disappointed in West Bay. It was ok, but not as nice as it seemed through others reviews, and so many vendors were there. I think that unless you're into diving, which we definitely aren't, I would avoid Roatan.

That's the problem with not exploring the island. You missed the best parts. I found St Kitts to be one of if not the cleanest island I've visited. The people were friendly and there were tons of things to do including visiting Nevis which is pretty spectacular.

I'm not saying you did this but flying to an island and then driving straight to a resort and then just camping out there for the duration is just stupid IMO. You can't see what the island is really like. May as well go to Panama City and spend a week there at a hotel. Or wherever.

I hate to even be saying this on a public forum because i want the place to be the same as when I went last year.

Isla Mujeres. Our view from our room at Villa Kiin was breathtaking. Best food we had the entire week from Cancun and Playa Del Carmen came from that island.

We're going back to Isla Mujeres at the end of February. My wife tells me to stop telling people about it. It's an incredible little island.

Yeah we were only on St Kitts for the day, I have heard better things about Nevis. All the areas I saw were not clean at all.

It depends on the resort, and what kind of vacation you want. If it's an AI resort I'm not leaving. I have also taken trips to a smaller hotel and explored. It totally depends.

Isla Mujeres is a great little island. I don't know why anyone would want to stay on the hotel stretch in Cancun.

yep. We stayed on the north end of the island by the reef. Snorkeling right out the back door. Boats would come anchor in the little bay bringing passengers from cancun.

Why anyone would want to stay in Cancun is beyond me. Miguel Hidalgo st. had a great nightlife and the best food imaginable. All very affordable and the Margaritas all used Don Julio tequila

Yeah, I know Isla has been discovered but it still doesn't feel like it. I'm hoping it stays that way. It's an incredibly affordable island and the food choices there are fantastic.
