Having a hard time passing up sub $450 fares to Spain out of Miami. May put all other plans in a back seat. Before I book, I just want to know if 9 days is long enough for Spain. And if yes, what should I able to fit in? This way I am able to make sure I can fly into one city and fly out of another without having to drive back to city 1 and waste time.

I am ok with just doing 1 region/area "properly" without having to fit everything in. Maybe the Andalucia region? Currently I'm thinking fly into Madrid, rent a car, drive through Cordoba to Sevilla for a couple days, then drive all the way to Barcelona (stopping along the way), catch a short flight/boat to Mallorca for a couple days then fly out of there. Is that too much? I am completely fine with skipping Mallorca altogether.

I did a split week in Spain between Barcelona and Seville flying on Vueling between them. I felt a little rushed in Barcelona on that timeframe but felt it was more than enough for Seville.

Barcelona and Seville had completely different feels to them. Seville was very much Spanish with the bull ring, bull heads on the walls etc. I think Barcelona and Andalucia are can't miss regions. I wish had more time to explore Grenada, Toledo, Ronda, various villages, etc.

You think 9 days is enough?

Im thinking 2 days in Sevilla, Mallorca and Barcelona. And spread 3 other days out to do the villages. Thoughts?

I don't think 2 days in Barcelona is enough, but if you know going in that you are skipping on things then that's just your style. I think we had 3 days there and I accidentally ran my wife into the ground walking too much one day instead of hailing a cab. But if you get your tickets for attractions in advance and use the metro right, you can be pretty efficient.

I think 2 days in Seville will allow you to leisurely see the town and try out the tapas places. I could see someone doing one day, but that would start to rush things, especially if you want to see flamenco/bullfighting there.

Seville's attractions are all in a pretty contained walkable area. The Alcazar is pretty big though and can take some time.

I have no issue skipping Barcelona completely and doing what I am doing at leisure and completely. So should I add a day in Barcelona and skip something else, or would you advise do the other stuff and do Barcelona some other time? I know this may be person specific but I see Barcelona as a "big city." So it has less charm than the smaller villages. But I've heard people see it is an awesome city (including you?) so trying to decide which one is a "can't miss."

All that said, as of right now, due to my ignorance maybe, I prefer the countryside over a city

Barcelona is indeed very cool, bu I don't think it would be a terrible idea to drop it and do Spanish Spain one trip and northern Catalonia/Basque stuff on another.

Second this sentiment. Such great differences between Northern and Southern Spain, and particularly Barcelona - which considers itself hardly even Spanish.

Could definitely fill 9 days flying into Madrid and heading north up to Basque country. Or another direction.
