Southwest flying to Hawaii in 2018

It was a matter of time now that they have their 737 Max8s.

The article you linked said flights won't begin until 2019, but will go on sale in 2018.

These flights will be packed if I had to guess. Wonder if the 73max will have to take a payload during the winter heading to Hawaii? I know I've read of the 739 having to block out anywhere from 1 to 20 seats due to headwinds on other airlines

The 739 is inferior to the A321, here. The MAX-8 won't have to block seats under most circumstances. It has design advantages, such as laminar flow vertical stabilizer, and tailplane. Southwest MAX-8's seat 175 just like their 738's.

Well you can use it for all of their Caribbean and international destinations, so I would assume so.
