Go to Coit Tower, has a great 360 view of the city. It's right by the Italian District, go get some Gelato. Alcatraz was pretty cool other than half the island is blocked off because of some damn birds that decided to take up residence and they are federally protected. Go check out Ghirardelli Square and it's walking distance to Pier 39. On the golden gate bridge, drive over it at night and go to Battery Spencer (Fort Baker 19th-century concrete battery featuring panoramic views of Golden Gate & San Francisco) which offers the best view of the bridge and of the city at night...trust me!

You did get a ticket to Alcatraz right, you can't just show up and expect to go. During the winter it might be possible, not sure, but during the summer you have to get that shite a month in advance or more.

Alcatraz Cruises is showing a lot of availability over the next week, I was curious if it was like that in winter too, but I guess not.

Was there for a few days in September and could not get a ticket for an actual Alcatraz tour, but did get a cruise tour that went under the bridge and a couple circles around Alcatraz telling the history. Muir Woods, Sausalito and the Marin Headlands lookout point we're all enjoyable as well. We also had a great time walking the Lands End trail. There were some amazing views up there. Definitely hit up The Buena Vista for breakfast and Irish Coffee. Lots of cheesy tourist stuff, but it's all good fun.

If you are renting a car I recommend driving up to Sonoma county to do a wine tasting and then up to the Armstrong RedWoods. It will be a packed day but you can do that all if you leave early enough. Also, plenty of In and Outs to stop at on the way.

I would definately do Muir Woods, always take people when they visit. Get there right when they open for good parking and free admission for the first hour. Make sure to do one of the trails off the main Boardwalk if you are able.

That might just be for a cruise that goes around alcatraz but doesn't stop there

Planning on it! Thanks for your suggestions!

I was able to get to Alcatraz today. Did Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39 last night. Walked around Chinatown today and went to the Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Factory and made my own cookies. Pretty cool.

Might go to a Warriors game tomorrow night (I am a sucker for stadiums).
