Driving up to B-Ham on Monday with wife and two sons (6&11). Any cool nature spots or eats along the way? Looks like it takes us 59 through Hattiesburg and we catch 20 in Meridian and go through Tusky.

That's a pretty boring drive. I can't think of any worthwhile stops between NOLA and Birmingham except Tuscaloosa.

I know you're an LSU fan but the kids might like to stop in Tuscaloosa and check out the stadium, run around campus and eat in town.

Dunns Falls in Enterprise MS and the Crosby arboretum in Picayune MS. There isnt much that is convenient. Once in Birmingham there is Oak Mountain State Park which has a lot to do.

I may be missing something but I really can't think of much. There is a lake or two around meridian but nothing I'd really stop for. Maybe Moundville (Indian site) south of Tuscaloosa. A little out of your way.

In Bham, check out Red Mtn park for some relatively easy hiking w nice views. They also have zip lines there.

I've taken that drive plenty, including next Tuesday. There is a really good, authentic, fried catfish joint just south of Meridian, but the name is escaping me. BBQ in Tuscalooser is worth stopping, but Bham is only 45 min further and has equal quality.

Well you could stop at dreamland BBQ for some ribs in Tuscaloosa. Right off the interstate basically. I make the drive all the time but I haven't heard of any cool nature trails though on the way. Best bet would be something in Tuscaloosa though.

In Birmingham there's a cool place called delta blues hot tamales and its owned by 2 LSU grads. It's on Cobb Lane. Die hard LSU fans.

Man, that's a whole lot of incongruity there.
