So my wife found a ridiculously cheap flight to Aguadilla from New Orleans during Mardi Gras, weird flight times but very short flights.

Aguadilla is the airport on the Western end of Puerto Rico.

I've been to PR before but spent most of my time in OSJ and the East of the Island. Never been to the West.

Any experience? Thoughts?

Spent a weekend in Rincon a few summers ago and loved it. My girlfriend's family that still live on the island have a condo there and go all the time. Shipwrecked is a touristy/Americanized place but had good food and drinks and the are it is in was pretty cool.

I thought the beach was better in Rincon than when we stayed in Dorado which is on the north part of the island close to San Juan and the beach the Ritz Carlton is located on.

Kind of looking around the Rincon area at rentals trying to find something.

Also looking at Isabela.

I enjoy Rincon. Cool hipster, surfer area, mixed in with traditional PR vibe. ....and don't eat the mofongo

I been going to PR for years, on business, and have tried many types of mofongo all across the island and have yet to find one that is edible. Stopped trying about 2 years ago.

I had mofongo at 2 of the better restaurants in PR. I liked it.

I have been there in both Caguas and Dorado...maybe mofongo just isn't for me. However, the island is full of great chicharrones and whole fried snapper.

Stayed in Aguadilla quite a few years ago. Are you budget traveling? We stayed at Parador El Faro, They had a hotel, but also had little no-frills houses you could rent too. It was fun. There were fruit trees all over the property and we ate a ton of fruit. If you go down to the beach in the morning, the fishermen come in and will sell you fresh fish. We walked everywhere we went. There wasn't a lot to do at that time, but I loved the quiet atmosphere. Wouldn't go out at night around there.

I'm with you. That mofongo is disgusting. I will eat almost anything, but that shite is gross.
