Plan on heading there some time this fall or next spring and was wondering if any of you folks had some suggestions as well as other tips/ideas re dining and tours.

Hotels are crazy expensive in the area. We stayed at an Airbnb in downtown Napa that was awesome. Had a full guesthouse behind the main house, and we paid the owner to chauffeur us around to the different wineries.

Vrai is right...you'll pay thru the nose for a hotel in Napa. There is so much brand recognition there you are really gonna get dinged because it's Napa. Have a look at your airbnb options.

Yep, Yountville is where you want to stay.

Check VRBO.com if more than two couples.

Enjoy--you'll love it.

Yountville is the best, IMO. It allows you to walk to many fantastic restaurants. The downside is that it's quite expensive. We've stayed at Maison Fleurie in the Bakery Building and were satisfied. Not luxurious, but a nice enough. Great location. Reasonable for Yountville.

Yeah no problem here's the link
main st farm house

They actually lived in Lake Charles back in the day. I forget how much they charged for the wine tours but it was very reasonable and they can make recommendations or just take you where you want to go.

I just booked a room at Riverpointe in Napa for $540ish for 3 nights. You can get a condo for $200 more. Best prices I found.

Still trying to figure out the tour thing though. Don't want to be stuck on a bus with 15 other people, so we looked into this group that is basically a DD for you. $190 for 4 hours, $30/hour for each additional hour + tasting fees. They organize a tour and drive your car for you. That said, I think I could organize tastings and uber between wineries for less money.

check out CHARDONNAY LODGE. I stayed there for 3 weeks back in 2004 for a job i was doing out there. owned by an indian national. he only charged me like 250 a week. it was not a dump either. far from it. clean and decent. I know this is a dozen years later but it is worth a look.

Luxe B&B in Calistoga is the only place we stay. We stayed there several times and were never disappointed. Yes, it is the most northern city in Napa, but all of the restaurants are in walking distance. There's some incredible boutique wineries up there too. For around $300/nt, you get a 4 course breakfast in the morning. Then from 5-7 every night, the serve wine and cheese on the porch. And they pour some really nice wines! PM me if you need some wine advice or have any other questions.
