Who else is heading to London soon on the new BA nonstop service from MSY? Going in May, staying in Shoreditch, looking forward to Borough Market. Give me your latest, greatest London tips: esp only in London food/drink.

I'm going to M. Manze to sample the jellied eels: LINK /

How familiar are you with London?

Shoreditch is cool, but it is pretty much the Hipster center of the entire universe, and it is pretty off to the east, well away from any tourist attraction, if you're interested in that sort of thing.

If you're just there to party and eat and drink...not bad.

Will bring back a full report, leaving tomorrow.

Foodwise: reservations at The River Cafe, Frenchie, St. John, and Dishoom. Also hoping to go to Ottolenghi, Barrafina, and a bunch of other spots. Hotel bars and older pubs heavy in rotation as well.

As I said in another thread, absolute must.

Absolutely amazing spanish tapas in a very relaxed michelin star place. Queue only and limited seating at the counter only. 3 locations.

Can't recommend it enough.

Okay, I'm not staying in Shoreditch....staying in Southwark. Dunno how I got that wrong. With a side trip to stay with friends in rural Bedfordshire.

My favorite restaurant in London is Rules. We always have a big blow out dinner there on our last night in town.

Dishoom was probably my favorite meal period.

Waiting to board now. They don't seem to be in a hurry to get this going

Boarding involved someone from New Orleans barely speaking audibly and everyone not understanding it but generally moving to the door. Like a really slow and unscary fire alarm

Spoke to a couple of nice British ladies last weekend who had come in on the Saturday AM arrival; they said that the 787 had plenty of legroom & cabin crew was great.

Talked to a friend in the airline industry. He said the BA direct MSY to London is killing it big time. They will likely add another flight as well as a plane upgrade.

He also said expect a drastic increase in direct flights with the new airport.

I hope they bring a lot more! BTW, the British museum is awesome. It's amazing to look at the Rosette stone

The Dishoom breakfast menu piqued my interest.
Also planning to hit up Nopi.
Really interested in old-school London food; pie shops, chippers, etc.

I really didn't do a good job of ordering at Dishoom. Had no idea what to order and our waiter was not really too interested in helping. It was still good but I was clueless.
