I'm moving from Baton Rouge to Maine for the summer time. I was offered a job and found a great place to stay for cheap that's in walking distance to the job. I don't know if this is the best place to ask this but I figured id get more genuine responses than the OT.

My wife and I are trying to figure out the best way to move. The house we will be living in is furnished so we don't need to bring that much. We are deciding between renting an SUV or Cargo Van for the drive and towing her car or shipping everything we will need on a pallet or box and using her car to drive up there.

We also have a Great Dane and a Maltese that will be along for the ride.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I would probably go with the tow the car route. Pack what limited things you need in her car / the excess space and start driving.

Most car rental places don't allow towing. Check that out first. I wanted to tow with a van and there wasn't even a hitch.

May have to go with Uhaul. They rent car dollys also. Not sure where dogs would ride.

It's going to be far far cheaper to go with the renting a vehicle route than doing the pallet. how much stuff do y'all have to take with you? i'm guessing her car can't tow anything like one of those small uHaul add ons?

you can't rent cargo vans one way. you'd have to rent an SUV, and like someone else said, i don't think they'll allow a tow on the back. pallet or POD may be the most viable option, though definitely not the cheaper, but it may be the only option
