I did this one day with the wife while we were visiting family in Texas. Had a blast. I'll ask her if she remembers where we went cause I don't

Yes, we aren't experts by any standard but we do enjoy wine and wine tastings.

Tubing on the Guadalupe is a fine way to spend the day.

There are some incredible TX BBQ joints in the "hill country." But as one noted the "hill country" is a large region.

Where do you plan to visit?

It would be pretty cool if you were able to find a ranch house on vrbo

We really enjoyed eating at Vaudeville Supper Club, Otto's, Cabernet Grill and the Old German Bakery in Fredricksburg. We enjoyed the wines at Pedernales, Lewis and William Chris.

Check out Fredricksburg. Your wife can shop and you can both eat and drink.

Go hike Enchanted Rock. At the top there are openings you can crawl down in and explore around. Try to make your way to the back of the rock...you come out on the slabs where you can chimney around. Good times.

Map shows where the cave comes out.

Here's a link from Texas Monthly Magazine for the 50 Best BBQ Joints. It's pretty accurate and many of them are located in the hill country (Austin, Taylor, Fredericksburg, Lockhart, San Marcos, Lexington).

IMO, no visit to the TX hill country would be complete without a stop (or two) at a BBQ joint.

50 Best BBQ Joints

Note: the better places will have lines, some may not take plastic, and they serve till the sell out, i.e., most won't make to dinner hours.

Hope you have a great trip.
