We found this guy through some friends we met while staying in Isla Mujeres. We (just me and my wife) paid him $200 for a full day of fishing and snorkeling (caught tons of barracuda, came back and had fresh ceviche and grilled the fish on the beach...all included) and the second day we paid him $200 to go see the whale sharks...both tours were just me and my wife so it was very personal and private. We have pics from the first day and forgot our camera/phone the second day. We brought him a large can of Tony's and some other common spices from the US and he was super grateful....extended our snorkel tour by 2 hours free of charge.

This is the tour facilitator we went through based on a friend's suggestion. He is 1 block off Hidalgo Street.

Here is their marina by the main part of town, there is a larger one up the cost but this is where you can jump on a boat immediately and haggle a priece very quickly.

Here is the boat, I forgot the Captain's name (it may be "Ronnie"P)...and some other pics. He had helpers at the beach that prepared the meal, and their "tip" was to take home the extra fish to their families to eat. It's amazing how it all works as a big community down there.

They will take you by some ancient Mayan ruins...

Fish prepared with Recado Rojo (that red paste on the fish) is amazing.

GD right it is....

You can see how raw and laid back the meal was...it was all about the food and the company. It's nothing I can describe that would do it justice.

I used a dive shop that had good reviews on Yelp. I believe the price was pretty much the same at every place.

I booked my Whale Shark excursion though the dive shop at my resort (Dressel Divers) and cannot recommend them enough. I'm actually going back later this year to do it again and will be using Dressel again.

I didn't take many photos of anything other than the whale sharks, although I definitely should have. I have some pretty good pictures of the animals captured on my GoPro, but I'm always wary of posting things on here. There are some ruthless frickers here
