Is It Safe To Travel To Paris These Days?

The wife wants to go in a couple weeks in early december and last time we went was a year ago and there were migrants everywhere and since then there was obviously the attacks and it just seems like such a hotbed over there now. I tried to talk her out of it, but she loves paris. Would you go there now or should I just find some way out of it?

Yes. It's fine.
I was in Nice 3-4 weeks after the attack there and it was completely back to normal. You'll see soldiers patrolling and a heavily armed police presence. The locals over there are very good about going about their business as usual, even with the threat of everything.

I went literally a week after the attacks last year and felt completely safe.
You're fine. Its actually, for the most part, an incredibly safe city. Just be smart. The central arrondisements will have tons of security.
The only time I ever really felt unsafe was in Montmarte which is flooded with scam artist immigrants and is a bit of a shithole. (and to a very minor degree around the Eiffel at night which is also flooded with scam artist immigrants)
I would skip places like Montmarte and Pigalle, and just stay in the central arrondisements.
It is a magical place. Have fun.

There's what like $10 million people in Paris? Unless you plan on a nuke happening, the chance of you being involved even if there is a terrorist attack is slim to none. I really wouldn't worry about it.

Ya, you gotta be in the "right" city, in the right part of the city, on the right day, at the right time of day, and have to be there in about a 10 minute period or so.
If that happens to you, your luck is just really shitty

Is your dad's first name Liam? If so, you're absolutely fine to go.

If you have to ask, probably not.

Paris is my favorite vacation destination. We spent a week there in April and never saw a hint of a problem.

Coworker just went last week for a honeymoon. He said it was awesome. Did mention there was a bit of a military presence, but he enjoyed his stay there for sure.

Yep, just use common sense. We're traveling in Europe in December/Jan, and our only precaution is going to be avoiding huge public holiday crowds.
In other parts of the world I'd avoid the primary "American" or "western" hotels, but that list is huge for places like Paris, London, etc.

You probably have a higher likelihood of dying on the plane ride over the pond than being killed by a terrorist while in Paris.

Eiffel at sunset has lots of turds bugging you as they sell lukewarm champagne out of plastic grocery bags (a bad, bad network exists)...but I don't think you can worry about an attack every minute you're there.
And as Fun Bunch stated...I think Montmartre has taken a bit of a turn for the worse. Not necessarily dangerous, just a pain in the arse.
My experience in 2012 at the Eiffel was just much more relaxed than a couple years later. Only so many times you can tell those dudes to get bent.

Go to the top of the Eiffel Tower and there is a great Restaurant up there with great view!

If you are going in December (which is a great time to go) then I highly recommend going ice skating on the Effel Tower. They aet up an ice rink on the same level as the Jules Verne. Its not something I would have ever sought out, but it was really cool. Especially at night

Went to it in 2012...it certainly makes for a memorable dinner!
