Is 45 Min enough time to transfer at FCO

Traveling to Abu Dhabi... Current option on DL is AUS-ATL-FCO-ABU... connection time in FCO is 45 minutes.
I've never traveled through FCO, is 45 minutes enough time to connect (will be traveling business class, so will get off the plane early)? I don't want to be stuck in Rome.

Would not recommend... 45 minutes is way too close of a connection to me. I'm not even sure how that's a legal connection on delta's website

Yeah, I just did a little research with the Google... seems like short connection times are common with Alitalia.

Alitalia has one flight a day so if you miss that you're stuck in rome for the rest of the day and night. If you really don't mind getting an extra day out of the trip (ie leaving a day early), then it might be worth it.

I have a 50 minute transfer in ATL on Sunday coming from NY, it has me worried.

I made it through customs, immigration, baggage recheck, and security in ATL on tuesday in 35/40 minutes. 50 minutes is more than enough time to change terminals using the plane train there. Also delta tends to pad the timing of their flights to/from NYC due to expected delays so if your flight doesn't have any issues you may get in even a half hour early

NYC
This is the key, when I flew out of JFK last Sunday night they had issues with getting the pilots there from Boston (weather) and then due to wind they were only operating with one runway in and out, a six hour layover became 11 hours.

What time is your flight JFK-ATL? Late afternoon you may have some problems, before I'd say 3pm you should be okay

Arrive at JFK 10:30 and depart at 1:30

Oh that's the perfect time to leave JFK, shouldn't be many delays at all. A good example is today. The 3:53pm departure JFK-ATL left on time but waited on the tarmac 47 minutes before taking off at 4:39pm. Expected to land in Atlanta at 6:27pm and arrive at 6:31pm. The scheduled arrival time is at 6:45pm so it's clear they allow about an hour delay on the departure end to get into ATL

Well, I took your advice... Booked the route through AMS that I normally take.
When I got to the airport in Austin for my first leg, I find out the flight is delayed due to mechanical issues. no Bueno.
Delta agent says, "hey, I've got another route that gets you into Abu Dhabi about the same time."
I say, "sure, let's do it."
She says, "it is boarding now, take this gate pass to get through security. The gate will have the boarding pass for you. You need to hurry."
So I haul arse, they give me the boarding pass and I get on the flight to JFK. Plane lands in JFK and that's when I find out she has me going through Rome. MF!!!
The JFK flight boards on time and leaves the gate on schedule. We then sat 1 HR and 20 minutes on the Tarmac waiting for takeoff. The pilot says everything is backed up due to maintenance on one of the runways.
Of course, the flight is 10 minutes late into FCO to catch my flight to Abu Dhabi. By the time I land, the Delta App on my phone shows they've already routed me to Cairo.
I had to run to that gate to make the flight... They had my boarding pass printed for me.
I get to Cairo... The ticket request from Delta to Egypt Air for my Cairo to Abu Dhabi leg was rejected by Egypt air... 2 hours of phone calls with Delta and I finally have a confirmed seat, of course instead of getting to Abu Dhabi at 7:20 PM Firay night, I won't get there until 5:05AM Saturday.
It's been a long arse day and I still have 4 hours here in Cairo.
Cheers from this shitty business lounge.
TL:DR. PSA: Don't fly through FCO or CAI.

I've never had a flight from FCO take off on time.

No, it is not enough. You will need to clear transit security between flights. If you are in the back half of your ATL flight, or delayed at all you will blow the cnx

Was in a similar situation few months ago. We had an 1 hr 15 minutes at FCO. We made it but it was very tight.
