Going to Ireland for St. Paddys day. First time out the country too. What are some absolute musts?

We did this about 7 years ago. Don't call it St paddys day over there for one, they don't like that.. it's either Paddys day or St Patrick's day..
Ireland is a blast wherever you are though, cheers.

Depends on where you are going to be in the country....
St. Patricks Day in Dublin is always crazy, but throw n the final weekend of the 6N against England, Dublin is going to be jammers as they say.

Wife and I were their last March, look into the bus tours, we took the one that went to the Giant's causeway.
The bus picked us up around 9am, and drove 90 minutes/2 hours through Northern Ireland to the Giants Causeway. You get to see a couple of ancient castles on the way, can't go in since they weren't structural safe.
You spend about 2 hours at the Causeway attraction.
Then after having lunch in the small town, the bus takes you to Belfast. You travel on the "Kingsroad" from Game of Thrones to get there. In Belfast you see where the Titanic was built and have 90 or so in down town Belfast before returning to Dublin.
There are a lot of bus tours out of Dublin, we must have seen a half dozen while on ours. Some that focus more on N. Ireland, the Game of Thrones attractions, on Titanic, others to Cliffs of Moher and Limerick.

Does anyone know anything about possibly being able to see the northern lights while there?

Just in the North of Donegal.. You wouldn't be guaranteed.
