I have 200k Chase UR points and 200k AMEX points. I'd like to book flights and a hotel for ~5 nights in the Maldives or Bora Bora or something similar. What's the best value for these points? I can leave out of whichever airport in the US gets me the best deal. Looking to take the trip at the end of next year.

Try booking travel through UR with your points, or you can transfer you UR points 1:1 as needed to partner points programs like United, SWA, IHG, Hilton, etc.

I've booked travel directly through Chase before and it's nice getting it for free but it doesn't seem like I am getting the best value. I've never transferred to a partner from Chase or AMEX but from what I can deduce that is the best value from the points.

I transfer my chase points 1:1 to Hyatt and Marriott all the time. That being said go with Hyatt. Marriott works on a larger point scale than Hyatt does. I'm sure it works out to be the same with regular customers but for you with a set of points you're looking to transfer Hyatt will give you a better bang for your buck. Marriott wants 45,000 points and up for their highest tier hotels. Hyatt wants 30,000. I had a little over 100,000 points this summer and went from a couple rooms at airport hotels and some out of pocket with Marriott to hyatts in the center of cities for 8 nights all free with points.

It is the season of giving, you could pass some of those points to a fellow TD'er that will surely put them to good use.

Transferring to hotel points is just about the least value one can get from Chase or Amex points.

How do you normally do it? Every time I've checked because of the dollar value they want more points per room than booking through the company at category value

Chase -> Hyatt has proven lucrative for me. (depending on the redemption of course)
