Any experience with either of these?

Which would you prefer?

Stayed at the Indigo, thought it was really nice, a little out of the way from the French Quarter.

Indigo is on the Streetcar route if you want to deal with that. Close to lots of good restaurants. But not in the quarter obviously. And I wouldn't recommend walking that, even though I've done it.

ETA: the Pontchartrain hotel right there was just redone as well.

Unfortunately looking to stay for free on points so looking at ihg hotels. I just didn't know if there was a big difference.

Depends on where you're going in town. If you're staying uptown Indigo is fine. Rooms are a little weird: "modern" decor, low beds, hardwood floors IIRC.

Charging a parking fee when you're not in the FQ is bullshite.

I've had good times at the Intercontinental. Much more walkable than Indigo.

The staybridge might work for you.
Also there is a crowne plaza on Canal street.

Thanks for suggestions. We won't have a car, so walking is desired. Also stay bridge and crowne Plaza are booked for reward stays that weekend (Lsu Bama)

The Intercontinental is remodeled last year and is pretty good. The restaurant is the same guy that has Stinky's in Destin, and it is very good as well.

Chateau LeMoyne/Holiday Inn is the choice here. Newly remodeled, perfect location, great balcony rooms.
