friends of the travel board. My wife and i were planning a vacation to the north west. We've been to vancouver and loved it.

Next up she wanted to go to Olympic National Park for almost a week, which i am not sold on. This would include flying up on a Tuesday, then having to drive 2.5 hours to Port Angeles and stay at a motel. then be there W-SU, flying back on Sunday. This would be a very nature and non-city trip, but i think would get old after a couple days.

I think the better trip would be to go to Seattle and do different things in the city there, take the ferry to Victoria one day, and also have a couple days to explore some hiking around the area.

Any thoughts on those options. any other bright ideas for the month of April, not necessarily beach related unless there are hiking type activities. (wanted to go to Hawaii, good outdoor stuff on some of the islands, but it's expensive AF in April).

Go to Seattle and drive up to the San Juan Islands. Hike Mt Rainier. Cook / Eat some fresh seafood. We stay on Alki Beach and it's a cool little beach community.

You can do A TON of outdoor stuff within 2 hours driving of Seattle.

This except you have to take a boat to the San Juan Islands...we take the ferry out of Anacortes and head to Orcas Island...beautiful up there.

i took a plane to SJI and it was fricking badass!!

We flew out of Seattle (Kenmore) in a sea plane. Landing in SJI about 45 minutes later.

It was incredible.

My biggest regret was not staying in SJI for at least a night. We did a whale watching tour then flew back that evening.

5 days in the park is too much unless you're hiking and backcountry camping.

Yep, not to mention you're going to an area that gets a ton of rain in April.
