Shanghai is awesome and very clean. Much cleaner than Beijing. We were only there for a quick weekend but had a blast.

Shanghai Brewery - fun bar and good beer
Bell Bar - neat little bar in cool area
Visit French concession area of Shanghai. Cool bars and restaurants. Nice architecture

Go to mall where all the high end goods are sold for dirt cheap. Haggle big time with these folks.

Have fun

Im gonna feed off of this as my friend just moved there as well.

How are prices for hotels, food and drinks? I noticed flights from STL are only about $750 RT.

I see no one mentioned riding the MagLev. Might as well do that once.

I only spent a day there but we enjoyed ourselves despite it being early January and kinda cold.

We took the Maglev from Shanghai to Hangzhou. Impressive transportation. If you ride the Maglev buy first class seats. They aren't that expensive and you get a comfortable and roomy seat. There were maybe two or three people in our whole section. The regular seats were jam packed and I got spit on by some dip shite local walking back to the bar.

Weird. I got regular seats since the ride was only 8 minutes or whatever. Were maybe 10 people on the whole train but we got there pretty early.
