Has anyone ever flown Frontier Airlines?

On the verge of booking a trip to Cancun and they are the only airline that offers a nonstop flight.
That's great, whats not are the reviews. Ive honestly never seen a company (that's still in business) be reviewed this poorly. Its damn near a consensus that they are awful.
Im really just looking for somebody to talk me off the ledge, because I really want to make this trip and the nonstop flight is a huge reason why.

Similar to Spirit in that you have to pay for everything... People get shocked by that and review it negatively

I did once. You pay for everything after the ticket purchase, bags, seat, meals, snacks, etc. I did enjoy it though. They had free movies with TVs on every seat. I'd fly again

What do you mean pay for your seat? What are you buying the ticket for?

I see what you are saying. Apparently they have done away with the TVs now.

Frontier is definitely a budget airline, but you end up spending much less even after the extras. I pack lightly so that certainly helps. It's also a known fact that if you choose to select your seat they charge you, otherwise you're gonna be in the back when boarding (checking in). I flew to Portland a couple years ago and had no complaints. Family flew here back in December and had nothing negative to say other than the odd flight times and charging for a soda.
If your end goal is to simply have a direct flight, or to save money, it's definitely a no brainer. But if you're looking for luxury and full complimentary services, you won't get it.

They ripped me off once.

Got charged $3 for the in flight beverage went in knowing I'd get nickeled and dimed, still worked out for me... until we had to get our luggage. It disappeared for 30-45 minutes, and at 1:30 am not a lot of assistance was to be found in Orlando. Not sure if i can fault them for this or not.

To Chicago for the game in Lambuea from AUS. Direct flight and back.
Flight was cheap and last outgoing on friday night. Couple hundred bucks cheaper than others, and a time that best worked for me. No complaints.
They had some Aspen or Breckenridge Vodka from Colorado that was really good.

Ive flown frontier multiple times and it's fine. It gets you from point A to B. If you're a spoiled brat and need all the extras and a higher level of comfort then book a better carrier that cost more money. You get what you pay for with frontier.

Make sure to buy this carrier for $15 so you won't be charged extra. It works for both Spirit and Frontier.

I only use it for Vegas to Denver flights outside of winter for a weekend trip to visit family. Get $58 round trip tickets and just pack a backpack.
Seats are horribly uncomfortable. Customer service when I have needed it has been shitty, but for $58 I guess I expect it.

Flew them one time. Plane was old, but the flight was fine. No real complaints.

People that review negatively don't have any idea what they signed up for. It's a budget airline with a la carte services, very similar to Spirit. I've never so much as had a delayed flight on Frontier, and have flown as cheap as $79 round trip from Denver to Atlanta.
You get what you pay for. I don't mind paying for a cheap, uncomfortable 2.5 hour flight that would cost me 4x as much with another airline.

I fly frontier all the time... just take my booksack with me and don't buy anything. Print your own boarding pass and make sure you arrive to the airport extra early. Sometimes the flights will leave before their scheduled time.
