Anyone ever gone to this? Wife started talking about it this weekend.
Thinking of doing this on Dec 30th with some friends who live in McKinney (wife apparently can get a teacher discount for a room there on the 30th), then drive down to Katy, stay there on NYE, then on the night of the 1st, do Santa's Wonderland in College Station (we used to do this all the time when we lived in Katy) and then back to NOLA on Jan 2nd.

This sounds like a neat little Christmas inspired trip! The Gaylord is a nice hotel and you'll enjoy the ICE! exhibit. It shouldn't be too crowded since you're going after Christmas. I can't see it on my phone, but the Gaylord has an ICE! calendar that allows you to see peak/non-peak times.
Grapevine is considered the Christmas Capital of Texas, if y'all have time... venture to downtown (it's nearby) for a walk through their Christmas lights displays. Enjoy!

Thanks for the tip. Wife was talking last night to a friend who went to Gaylord last year. Said the ICE exhibit and the snow tubing were awesome... but the ice skating was pretty lame and the snow ball throwing was a waste. So I think we will do the ICE and do the snow tubing and maybe one of the gingerbread man things.
That would probably give us some time on the evening of the 30th... so might check out that downtown.

It's Christmas on steroids in Grapevine. I went with the family to ICE a year or so ago, and it was a blast. They may still have a few other activities going on in downtown around that time.

We live 30 minutes from the Gaylord and go every year. Its really well done.
You can find coupons to ICE and the teacher discounts are legit. Its awesome how they docorate the hotel and my favorite part is they have toy trains going everywhere through the snow and lights.
If you want to get in the christmas spirit then Grapevine is a good choice.
As with all resorts, eating on site is pricey. The Italian place there(Zeppole) is good as is the sports bar. They have a MASSIVE screen with multiple games on at once, so its a good spot for drinks and football and food.
If you want to go offsite, there is a cool family place called Fireside Pies thats upscale pizzas. Kids love it and the adults can have some drinks.

Looks like we’re gonna spend the weekend before Christmas here. Looking forward to it.

We've been and it is beyond awesome. Also the Great Wolf Lodge nearby can be just as incredible. If you can, check out both.
