Thinking of heading up here for a trip this coming spring. Any of you stayed here at the hotel? Also, suggestions of things to do? Is a weekend trip sufficient?

This will be just a get away to somewhere different with the wife.

Try to get a balcony room overlooking one of the nicer atriums. We got upgraded to one overlooking the fountains in the main atrium last time I was there and got to watch the fountain show a bunch. That was very nice.

If you are just wanting to checkout the hotel and maybe the Opry Mills mall, then a weekend is enough. Lots of things to do in the greater Nashville area though. CAD usually has a good list.

Been twice, but both were in the Christmas season.

Think several of the attractions are seasonal, so not sure what may differ in the spring.

Ask for a Delta Atrium view.

I stayed there a couple of months ago for a work conference. It's a cool place but I don't know that I would want to stay there on my own time.

Never stayed at Opryland, so can't help there.

I have been to Nashville several times, and can say you can hit the highlights in a weekend, but you need more time to do a deeper dive.

If you've never been there, I think the must dos are:
Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum (add the Studio B tour)
Ryman Auditorium self guided tour
Johnny Cash museum
Go to a Grand Ole Opry show. Even if you don't like country music, you are in the audience for a show that has broadcast weekly since 1925.
If you can get in, go see a performance at the Bluebird
Have a beer and listen to a band at one of the places on Broadway - Tootsie's is famous for being the bar of choice for Opry stars during the Ryman days. Robert's Western World has produced a ton of really good musicians. If you play in the house band there you have a darn good chance of being picked for a major artist's tour band at some point.

Do conventions there for work all the time. Its a great venue but expensive as shite.

There is a mall next door that you can walk to that has some restaurants.

Also, only other negative is its not really next to anything so you have to drive to downtown.

If you can snag gov employee rates, they do standard per diem there.

The Gaylord in Grapevine, TX by DFW Airport is awesome at Christmas. The parking at the Opryland Gaylord is daunting.

We stayed thee 5 years ago, shortly after everything was redone after the big Nashville flood. The mall had just reopened. I had just started this job and couldn't take time off for 90 days, so we just did a quick weekend trip to see the Saturday night show at the Opry. We had done Nashville several times doing Music Row and football games, but this was spring time. If you're not set on a certain weekend, call and ask if any conventions are going on. Apparently there was some Chess Tournament going on that weekend that the hotel was hosting, along with another convention for some MLM scam. If we had known, we would have picked another weekend because there were tons of kids roaming around the place.

We only stayed there because we drove up Friday after work, and the Opry show was Saturday night and we could walk to it. We thought about driving downtown once we got checked in, but just chilled at a hotel bar instead. The actual hotel was nice, just be prepared to walk a good bit to get to your room. The place is huge. We checked in, and had to walk through the Atrium on these elevated walkways, and our room was at the end of a hallway on the other side.

The mall was nice, and we shopped some on Saturday afternoon. It rained a good bit of the time we were up there, so we were glad everything was close. It would have been a horrible time to do Music Row. Other trips we've been on we stayed at the Loew's Vanderbilt or the Marriott near Vanderbilt. That was with more family though and we just hopped a cab to go anywhere to eat or to the bars.

I was there this summer. Its an nice place to stay and the inside is really big. BUT it got really old ubering every night to downtown or other places. Gaylord is off by itself and the only thing really close to it is the Grand ol Opry.
