Excellence - Punta Cana

We stayed there and really enjoyed ourselves. The only bad part of staying at the location is a distance from airport. This was 7 years ago. We only did one excursion take a catamaran to private island. It was fun. I would go back to DR if it wasn't such a pita to travel there with no direct flights from Dallas.

Went for honeymoon and we loved it. It is about a 40 minute drive from the airport, but it's not a bad drive. We did the excellence club and had "private beach" away from the non club members. If you are going with a group, no need to do the club. As far as I know, the only differences between the club and regular suites were access to clubhouse, "fast check in", upgraded bar in room, and the private beach I mentioned. Beach was beautiful and clean. Water was a little rough while we were there.

We did not do any excursions, but there are plenty of options. Just make sure you go through a concierge at the hotel to ensure you get a trustworthy excursion company (insured, etc).

We would definitely go back.

Take this for what it is, but I asked my sister today how her trip was to Excellence (she just got back yesterday with her friend) and she said it was just okay.

Liked the beach and excursions, but it was really far away from everything, the food was meh for an all inclusive and that there were issues trying to speak english with the resort staff (minus the higher ups). At one point her room had a leak from the ceiling, called the front desk to get it fixed, they never came. When they did come after the third time, they sprayed for bugs . They left for dinner, came back and there were puddles all in the room. Manager came out, picked them up in the pouring rain and drove them to the presidential suite for their last 2 nights.

I'm sure some of y'all had much better experiences than this so it's likely just an outlier of mildly annoying things that can happen on a vacation.
