I keep getting these pop ups for Emirates and the luxury that they offer. Of course, I can not afford to fly with them but I am wondering if anyone has ever stepped aboard one of these planes or know of anyone that did. Is it really as good as they claim?

Just for fun, I did a quick search for a flight from Atlanta to Paris this December. Round trip.

Economy = 14.5K per person
First Class - 51K per person

My son flew from IAH to DXB on an A380 in 1st class ~ $25,000 and said it was impressive. The airline even provided transportation to and from the airport.

I'm not sure where you are getting your prices from, but it is not that expensive usually. I am going to India in November and I almost went Emirates. Total in economy out of Houston is $1,014 which is a great price. I just happened to find a Turkish Airlines ticket fro $748, even better!

I read that economy is actually nothing special, and the legroom is not that great (I am tall). Really looking forward to Turkish Airlines, they are very well reviewed and their food is said to be some of the best in the sky.

ETA: Business class is only $4,466 for the same flight. Check your prices again.

I am finding it very difficult to believe that Emirates is charging $14,500 US dollars for a round trip flight between Atlanta and Paris. Is it a private plane?

That is roughly 10 times the cost of most other airline competitors. You sure about that price for economy/coach class?

Edit: That has to be a glitch on their website, how in the world are they getting those prices?

Why don't you give IAH - DXB 1st Class Emirates 11/14-11/20 a whirl.

OK. Here it is. Zoom in to see.

What is so complicated? $1,143 for economy and $7,300 for business class. Pretty standard prices for any airline. Why do people think this airline is so different?

To be fair, I searched on emirates for flight from ATL to Paris and got same result 14K for economy.

I know there has been some stress between Hartsfield, Delta, and Emirates (or maybe it was another ME Airline), but I fail to see how that flight at that price is stealing folks from flying delta from ATL to Paris, when a similar delta flight is $1,168.

What is it about FIRST CLASS you don't understand.
Now do that search and post it.

Definitely not a good airline for traveling to Europe! You should want to go to Dubai first, and then stay there or go somewhere else in the Middle East or Asia. Prices are pretty reasonable as long as you do this.

Sorry, I didn't realize we were only talking about travel for the ultra wealthy. Most people don't need a private suite with a shower. Business class is very luxurious and reasonable, economy even more so.

Kinda was the point of this thread. Look at it again. 14K for economy, 50K for first class. I posted the link as well. I was just wondering what hidden gems do they throw in for a 50K or even 14K flight?

Very irregular. I was hoping someone knew someone who had been on one of those planes to see it in reality. LOL

This is for some crazy roundabout way to get to Paris. You would have to go to Dubai first. No one would actually do that.

So, if you were going to Dubai for example around that time it would be about $1,000 to $1,500 for economy which is very reasonable. It would be about $6,000 to $7,000 for business class which includes the private driver to and from the airport and a lay flat seat, meals, alcohol, etc. A very nice experience. If you are a member of the ultra wealthy elite and can shell about $20,000 to $25,000 for first class you would get everything above in business class plus a private suite with a shower, etc. Extremely luxurious, but most people simply don't spend that kind of money on a flight.

Probably.

When I saw the video, I was sure it would be expensive for first class or economy but that is some series bucks to fly on a plane

Fly with them a bit, the vast majority of their planes are little different from any other major carriers with slightly better amenities in business class, the rest is standard fare.

On certain high profile routes you will find suites and bathrooms and "First Class" but it is not the SOP.

They do employ a much younger workforce that is helpful, courteous, and professional though, nothing like the pissed off battle-axes you are forced to deal with for the legacy carriers.

You're connecting in Dubai.
It's an 11,000 mile journey.

Direct from Orlando to Paris only 4,000 miles.

There's your price difference.

I fly them all of the time and think they're great. Used to use Qatar Airlines for a while before them. Also excellent. But, I am always going to the Middle East and the flights are never even close to what I'm seeing here. Usually about $4.5-6K for Business Class.

My wife has flown Emirates from Dulles to Hyderabad, India in first.

Her client paid for it, and her ticket was a bit above $8k. She had the private car, shower, double bed.

We are actually flying on Emirates from Dulles to Bangkok in November.

She will again be in first, but I will be in the cattle car. (Clients don't pay for my ticket, but I still get the limo).

My ticket was $1052 rt, with one short layover each way in Dubai.
