Can someone tell me the answer to the following?

If we have reservations to eat breakfast at the Captain's Grille at the Yacht Club, and are NOT staying on Disney property, but rather at an offsite resort...

A. Can we park there free?
B. If the answer to A is "no," then how much does it cost?
C. Can the vehicle be left all day allowing us to enter Epcot through the International Gateway?
D. Is it easier to park in the Epcot lot, and shuttle to the yacht club?

They were testing paid parking at some resorts a few months ago but I'm not sure where they are with that now.

I found this...

quote:

WHAT ABOUT PARKING AT OTHER DISNEY VENUES?

Self parking at the Disney resorts is free to all guests; however some resorts have seasonal parking restrictions. Parking at any of the resorts to gain access to the theme parks is not allowed. You must show a photo ID when entering any Disney resort! Some Disney resorts may also ask for a Dining Reservation number from guests who are dining at the resort before allowing access to the resort parking lot.

I also read elsewhere that you can park for dining reservations for up to 3 hours. The word "guests" is confusing me. Do they mean people staying at the resort? Or visitors? Or both?

The second thing I bolded answers my earlier question though.

My arm band or id was checked at each resort entry gate for meal reservations we had.

A. Can we park there free? - Yes

C. Can the vehicle be left all day allowing us to enter Epcot through the International Gateway? - You're not supposed to but some people do. There have been towings before so it's up to you to try it. If you're willing to pay, you can valet at the resort for a cost of (I think) $16 an that is good all day.

D. Is it easier to park in the Epcot lot, and shuttle to the yacht club? - No. There are not busses tha run to the Epcot resorts from Epcot. You could park at Hollywood Studios and walk over then walk back after you leave Epcot but I think your best bet is to just pay to valet park.

Are you going to go to a park that day? Depending on when your reservation time is, compared to park opening time, you could go park at the theme park and then use Disney transport to get to the Yacht Club.

Technically, you are not supposed to use Disney transport to do this if you are not staying on property, but they don't check.

If you decide to park at the resort, you can do that, you will have to give the guard your dining reservation number. Not an issue at all. But I would not park there all day. They sometimes will give you a paper pass for your dash board that will have the time of your reservation, and if you are there too long, you could have a problem.

Yes. You can valet park and stay all day. The price usually equals the park pay price which is around $20

Yes, going to Epcot. That is why I wanted to leave it and go through the international gateway.

Our reservations are for before the park opens. I will probably eat then drive to the main Epcot gate.

Don't do that..at least wait a few hours. You need to spend from when the park opens until at least 10:30 or so with attractions and meet and greets that will have standby wait times built up by noon.

Joy and Sadness (Inside Out) meet & greet, Test Track, new Frozen meet & greet and ride (depending on when you visit), Soarin (depending on when you visit), Mission Space, Turtle Talk. Leaving Y&B Club after breakfast to move your car will cost you tons of time in unnecessary wait times later in the day.

Read this for info on valet parking. You have to pay for parking anyway if you park at Epcot so just pay at the resort and leave the car there,

Resort Hotels
Self-parking at Resort hotels is complimentary for Resort Guests. Valet parking is available at select Disney Deluxe Resorts for $20 per day.

Thanks for the info. So far we have the following reserved for that day:

Captain's Grille Breakfast
8:45 AM

Spaceship Earth
10:10 AM - 11:10 AM

Mission: SPACE
11:30 AM - 12:30 PM

Meet Disney Pals at the Epcot Character Spot
1:50 PM - 2:50 PM

Unfortunately Soarin will not be open. We go to Epcot on a Tuesday, Soarin opens on that Friday. Test track had no available fastpasses but we will be riding that one too. Then it is off to drink around the world.

If you could get another fast pass .. The character spot is usually pretty manageable stand by time. I'm not sure when you're going, but Soarin will reopen on May 27. Usually they do soft openings before, but don't allow fast passes. When you get to the park ask a cast member and they could let you know if it's going to open that day.

If you don't have a FP for test track, you definitely want to hit the first. Also, the FP for the character spot is only for the classic characters (Mickey, Minnie, goofy, etc) and not Joy/Sadness and Baymax. Currently they do not have FP and should be a top priority after test track.

Shouldn't you be able to park at Downtown Disney and then catch a bus to a resort and then to Epcot? But why? Isn't your time worth more than the cost to park?

there are no busses from the Epcot resorts to Epcot. You can either walk or take the Friendship Boat and enter through the International Gateway.

Update:

We looked this weekend and they are going to reopen Soarin with the old video as a test run. So we dropped the Spaceship Earth and added Soarin.

Time IS important. That is why I asked if we could park at the resort and enter through the International Gateway, as opposed to having to park twice or ride Disney transportation. If we can park close and walk, that will save us time.

I need to check, but I think this is the only character meet and greet we have planned. I don't think we have character dining anywhere.
