Day trip to Isla Mujeres from Excellence Playa Mujeres

we just take a cab to the ferry and then rent a golf cart on the island, correct?
Does it matter where we rent the cart from or are there scammers right off the ferry?

You can rent a cart from guys on the ferry but there are cheaper options on the island. The biggest drawback to the ferry cart guys is finding the cart drop off at the end of the day. It's a little shop in the middle of a bunch of streets that all look the same. Factor in a day of boozing and you'll be scrambling to avoid a late fee.
We go a couple times a year and always rent from the one with a whale painted on the building on the main street where the ferry lets you off. Bring your drivers license.

There are no scammers on Isla Mujeres. It's paradise. And cheap.

Long lines by the ferry drop off but there are plenty of other rentals just few blocks away.
Be sure to get a gas-fueled cart that's full. We saw and heard from people who opted for a battery run cart and their battery died.

Use Pesos to rent a golf cart...and not US. They will not break a $20. Believe me.
