Anybody keeping up with the announcements from D23. Looks like a bunch of cool stuff for the Disney nerds. Will add links shortly.

Some pretty big announcements. Hate that Great Movie Ride is going away, but mainly for nostalgic reasons. Feel the same about Universe of Energy. But definitely looking forward to the new additions to Epcot, as well as Tron.

I have a kid that is begging me to plan a trip because of Toy Story opening. Thinking about next Oct so we can do Halloween party also.

IMMERSIVE. STAR. WARS. RESORT. This is all that really mattered for me.
Tron renderings look nice. Ratatouile ride in Paris has had good reviews and is being imported and that's cool. The new mickey ride on its face sounds interesting, itll be 3D but not require 3D glasses. Guardians of the Galaxy ride is also going to Epcot but I'm lukewarm there.
I don't personally care about the new ride systems (driverless minor mouse cars) and gondola thing.
I'm not a part of DVC but there is a new one coming near Carribean Beach and it should be a nice location between Hollywood and Epcot.
ETA: I was also excited to hear they're adding three new cruise ships. It'd be great if New Orleans could get any of the ships to sail part time out of here like they do with Galveston.

Wish they could use all the marvel properties at Disney world. Would love to see a whole park dedicated to Marvel.

Some really neat updates. Glad to see the work they are going to do to Future World at Epcot. I was there back in February and it is sorely needed.

The Halloween party is pretty awesome. It's cool seeing all of the characters dressed up for Halloween.

The new ride system isn't driverless....it's just Disney's version of Uber. It's actually already started at the Boardwalk Resort and Yacht & Beach Club Resorts. $20 gets you a private shuttle to anywhere on property: LINK
I was super stoked to see the Tron coaster was confirmed. The ride in Shanghai look incredible. And it's an added bonus that it's not replacing the speedway (at least it isn't based on the concept art they released). My oldest daughter loves that ride. She'd be devastated if it were gone. It does look like it will have a major refurb to re-route the track, though.
I'm also happy they're adding another sit-down restaurant in Future World at Epcot. I still think they need an additional counter-service option in the front as well. I'm pretty indifferent on the changes to Universe of Energy. Something needed to be done to that attraction. We'll see how well a Guardians theme fits into Epcot.

No one was ever on Great Movie Ride anymore
Can't wait for 2021 and 50th anniversary
I don't want to go back until Star Wars land is open
My oldest kid might be too old at that point though

I think we are going to take our girls on a Disney Cruise next year, and then back to WDW in 2019 after Star Wars opens. I'm glad they are staggering the openings of Toy Story Land and Star Wars Land since that will help with crowds, but I just don't see the point in going back until Hollywood Studios is completed. I am going back this December though...

This is possible?

Sad, but true. Plus, it's full of homages to films that are not Disney films. They definitely would rather eliminate those and the related licensing fees that are associated with it. I'm glad Mickey is finally getting his own ride....but I'm worried that it may alienate some park-goers that have trouble with projection-based rides like the ones in Universal have (I'm looking at you, Spiderman).

Great American Movie Ride was a nice little break from the madness!
It was slow and cool inside.
Great for adults and kids except when the Alien comes out.

It needed an update but that wasn't going to happen. I'm okay with the close and new ride.

One thing that they really didn't talk about was a major change to the landscape in Epcot walking from Future World to World Showcase Lagoon....inclusive of the former Innoventions/Communicore buildings and the Fountain of Nations. The bottom image is the concept art they unveiled while the top image is a rendering superimposed over an Epcot aerial shot by Twitter user @imagineeringdis

I'm really appreciating all the updates. But in a way, I'm a little saddened that my son won't experience the rides or simplicity of the parks that I had.

A good bit of that though is already lost from when we were young. I want to help demolish Ellen's Energy Adventure.
