So the first time I posted for recs on Costa Rica I had several recommend jaco beach though one suggested it was good for a batchelor party but not good for couples.

Details: 4 couple's
Must have/ do's: on the beach, white water rafting, deep sea fishing and seeing/doing something awesome specific to Costa Rica.

Suggestions on this, where to fly into, vehicle travel options, nice places to stay etc would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Don't do Jaco. Los Suenos would be better if you're looking in that area. Fly into SJO and I'm sure the resort there (Marriott) would be able to line you up transportation. Only thing it's missing from your criteria would be a beach, but we were only there for golf and fishing so I could have just missed it.

You can day trip into Jaco if you want to check out some of the shops and different restaurants, but at night it's not really a couples place.

That's the only area of CR I can speak to though.

Thanks but just to expand, none of us know anything about where cities are and where their at in relation to those activities. Would prefer a beach house to cook and hang out privately though an all inclusive would be tolerable. We don't want to be in a hotel type atmosphere like in destin where there's one BBQ pit for the whole place and standard beach hotel amenities. I'd rather grocery shop and cook for ourselves with a nice restaurant for a night or two mixed in.

JacoVIP is who we went thru for my bachelor party, but they knew we were on a bachelor party and gave us a house/location for that. They have a ton of different houses for rent, I would imagine they have something for every different type of party. Would be a decent place to start.

LINK to all their listings, wouldn't hurt to shoot them an email with what you're looking for. They run a good business.

Eta going thru them, you'll be able to book any and all excursions before setting foot there. Pay in full for everything at check in so all you have to worry about is tips, which is nice.

I enjoyed monteverde cloud forest much more than the beach.

FYI, roads there are not always the best. In some areas...what looks like would take maybe 30-45 minutes to get to....can take hours there cause of how the roads are. And it is Costa Rica law that you have to purchase the insurance for a rental car. So make sure to read the fine print when you book a rental car. Many people don't...and when they pick up their car...are shocked to see it costs double what they thought it would due to the insurance.

Book a tour to go white water rafting in the Pacuare river....best place in Costa Rica to go white water rafting. Couldn't tell you where it is at though. We didn't drive any there. We hopped around CR and staying in 3 different locations and arranged for shuttle transport everywhere we went.

Another poster mentioned Monteverde and I have to say....it is GORGEOUS up there as well. Totally different scenery than the beach. And the best places to go zip lining are in Monteverde(cause you are wayyyyyy up high in the cloud forest).

ETA:

We planned our entire CR trip with this travel agency in CR(Gecko Trail). HIGHLY recommend them. They were awesome. Only thing I had to do on my own was book my airfare. Once I told them what kind of trip I wanted....they planned out everything for us and made all the arrangements(hotel, tours, transportation). Since they are local...they know which tour companies are legit and will only book with them. I was able to contact them anytime during my trip with any issues and they contacted me as well to let me know if there were any delays(one time a shuttle was gonna be late due to a flat or something and they gave us a heads up).

You are welcome, hope yall have a great trip! CR is amazing.

You can also use Gecko Trail to just book day tours as well if you want to make your other travel plans on your own.

Nosara. I'm on my way back home as I type. Been there twice. Thinking about buying.

I'm an avid surfer and its a great place to surf.

Fly into Liberia, rent a car. Taminrandio is a great option also

Ets: Harmony Hotal in Nosara. Robert August Surf Camp in Tamarindo.

I'm in the beginning of planning a trip for the wife and I. We are looking at staying at Arenas del Mar in Manuel Antonio and fishing out of Quepos.

My wife and I stayed at Arenas Del Mar on the 2nd half of our honeymoon. It's an incredible place - you'll enjoy!

Request room 703A, it's got the best view in the entire resort.

I was there (Tamarindo) last week. I also went down to Malpais (near Tambor).

Tamarindo is in the middle of their Dry Season. When they say "dry" they mean dry, like zero rain since December. Really dusty. It was also near 100F. Very little humidity so you don't feel uncomfortable. Cool beaches but I prefer the Tambor area. Fly into SJO and take a puddle jumper (via Sansa) to Tambor or Quepos. Get a rental car at either and don't drive more than 40 miles in any one direction.

Dollar Rental Car in Tambor is recommended.

The roads can be abysmal. Words don't accurately describe the bad ones. Fun, actually, but you can't make good time on them.

Pura Vida!
