Colorado or Wyoming summer vacation recommendations.

I've been to several of the ski resorts during the winter however I've never made the trip with the family during the summer. I'm just looking for something different besides the beach.
For a family of four. Need lots of activity: hiking, fly fishing, zip lining, rafting, etc.
Any recommendations?

Any and all of the big ski resorts will have all of those for summer activities as well.
I prefer Durango or Ouray for CO or Jackson Hole for Wyoming.

What city do you fly into for these locations? (I want to use Delta points.)

The National Parks seem like the obvious choice. Yellowstone, Rocky Mt, and Grand Teton, in that order. Grand Teton and Yellowstone are right next to each other, so you could see both in a week's time. TONS to do in that area.

Jackson Hole (Teton Village Ski Resort) is IMO better in the summer and early fall than the winter. Tons of stuff to do. Horseback riding, hiking, wildlife viewing, rafting, mountain bike riding, etc. Given that the skiing is world class, but outside of skiing and snow mobiling you are much more limited in the winter and everything costs money during the winter. In the summer there are a lot more cheaper activities.
All of the big ski resorts now how mountain bike courses, zip lines, summer camps, hiking, etc. Many of the upper restaurants are open in the summer for lunch, snacks, or dinner.
I can't speak for Colorado as I don't have any recent experience, but Jackson Hole is fantastic in the summer. Not to mention, Jackson hole is usually like a high of 75 degrees and can get down into the 40s and normally 50s at night. So if you are coming from the south, going to Montana or Wyoming in the summer time is great weather wise to beat the heat.

I spent a week in Steamboat Springs CO, a few years ago and it was great. Has everything you are looking for and is close to several things if you want to take a day trip somewhere.

Breckinridge has plenty to offer in the summer.

Go to Jackson. Boatloads of stuff to do, near the Tetons, yellowstone, snake River and the Wind River Range etc. National forests, wilderness areas..

The Flathead Valley offers that and then some. We have the national park with nearly 800 miles of hiking trails, 2 ski resorts with summertime ameninities, zip lining, horse back riding, whitewater rafting, distilleries, microbrews, beer gardens, great restaurants, a water park, a crazy house, millions of acres of wilderness and national forest, swinging bridges, boating (motorized and non motorized), hot air balloons, go kart track, race car track, medical dispensaries, skydiving, mountain biking trails, fly fishing, etc etc etc

Steamboat Springs is awesome during the summer

Montrose CO. If you do Ouray and Telluride you might have to be a bit more flexible with plans. I doubt there are zip lines and rafting, but instead rent a Jeep and see the back country. Amazing hikes, giant fields of flowers, guaranteed to be done festival in T-ride when you go...

Steamboat is awesome all the time! But yeah, it kicks arse around here in the summer. Always some weekend activity going on. Town is buzzing during the summer. Tube the Yampa right in downtown. Free concerts. Went to the rodeo last weekend with parents in town and that was a blast.
Like most said, every mountain town is gonna be really fun in the summer time. I'm partial to Steamboat, because I live here. We don't have the most dramatic mountain peaks in here in the Boat, but we make up for it with charm and the natural beauty of NW Colorado.

Crested Butte. Isolated enough, but centrally located amongst a lot of cool stuff to do and places to have day trips to. Black Canyon of the Gunnison is one of those very cool places.

For Durango it would be Albuquerque - 3 1/2 hour drive but it has everything you are looking for. Stay in downtown Durango or the Purgatory Resort, which has a lot of family summer activities.
