Planning a trip to coastal Maine this summer. Would love any suggestions on accommodations, restaurants, activities, etc. Would especially like to hear about "under the radar" towns.
Right now, I'm thinking mostly small B&Bs, but could definitely be convinced by a great hotel or resort recommendation.

we stayed at the Nonantum Resort in Kennebunkport Maine (about an hour from Boston Logan Airport) and will be going back this summer. Breakfast included with cost of resort and it is buffet style with omelet station. They have a dock and you can take boating excursions right from the resort
Reasonable prices
This summer we are heading up to Portland and Acadia National Park as well, Portland is a little further up

Mabel's Lobster Claw restaurant in Kennebunkport

Stayed in Bar Harbor about 12 years ago. First day thought it was great. Next day cruise ship unloaded, holy crap was it crowded and different. We really enjoyed Acadia NP, very pretty. We also enjoyed area south of bar harbor, SW Harbor and Thurston. Took a sunset cruise on small sailboat in SWHarbor. Really enjoyed that. And really enjoyed eating lobster at all the different " Lobster pounds". Best described as screened in hole in wall restaurants with live lobsters that they cook to order. Picnic tables to eat on, most have a lobster roll on the menu. Best one we ate at was Thurston Lobster Pound. But all were good.

Welch Harbor is a lovely little coastal town. Bar Harbor is WAY to crowded for my taste
