I went to Chicago over the summer for the Copa America match against Costa Rica. Chicago is awesome. If you can, walk or take the subway everywhere. Traffic is god-awful.

Things to see: the Bean, *Willis Tower, Navy Peer, *Untouchables Tour (awesome), 50th McDonalds (pretty cool), White Sox game (tickets are very cheap), Art Museum, Soldier Field

You HAVE to eat deep dish pizza. *Giordano's Pizza was my favorite. *Portillio's Hot Dog (not just a hot dog place)

Have fun!

Tons of stuff to do, I'd definitely recommend a boat architecture tour, the bean is at the Millenial Park and they often have activities going on, as said a ton of shows if you like that sort of thing, etc. For food definitely a deep dish pizza, a hot dog place, maybe an italian beef place, there's that Girl and a Goat unique restaurant and quite a few other great places to eat.

You are probably going to want to eat at least once at Wrigley, plenty of places to eat and drink there.

Since you're staying a bit north, I'll rattle off some eats/sights in the Lakeview area. Happy to provide some suggestions south of Lakeview, though.

- Half Acre isn't more than a quick Uber ride away. Good beer, good food, new space opening up.

- One of my favorite burgers in the city is at DryHop in Lakeview East. Not too far of a walk from Wrigleyville, depending where you are. They brew their own beer, which is OK.

- One of my favorite summertime patios in Lakeview is Barcocina. It's a big, modern space that has OK food, but very refreshing summer cocktails/margaritas. Almost kitty-corner to Barcocina is Kirkwood, which is another popular summer-spot.

- Sheffield's has been mentioned on here before, but they have a nice patio space and an extensive beer menu.

- If you want to head West of the Kennedy, Parson's Chicken & Fish is a popular spot with a Texas-style patio and good food + drinks.

- Best wings I've had in Chicago are at Crisp, which is on Broadway in Lakeview East. Get five jumbo wings with either Seoul Sassy or Crisp BBQ.

- 5411 on Clark or Southport have good Empanadas. I would recommend their Southport location since it's closer to Wrigley.

- On the day of the game, hit bars along Clark and Sheffield, both north and south of Addison.

I'll be heading to chicago for the UGA/ND game this fall and was going to make a thread closer to time, although I'm sure I can comb through and find some great advice already.

One constant I see time and time again is Girl and the goat. Why is that so nationally renowned? Please don't think I'm downplaying it, I'm simply ignorant on the topic. A perusal of the menu shows me (big surprise) they serve goat, but what is it about this place that makes it such a "you must go there" kinda place?

Girl and the Goat was the best meal I had last year. Just well done food with a menu that allows you to taste a bit of everything if you see fit

Wear your Florida shirt, go to the top of the Willis Tower and jump off of it.

Wife and I are going in April and staying at the Whitehall Hotel. I want to know from the locals where should we go for the best deep dish Chicago pizza (b/c we've been to NY and I could live on the NY traditional thin crust, don't want to try it in Chicago) near our hotel ? Also, what is the best place to get traditional Chicago style dogs (second favorite to kraut dogs) around the Whitehall ? If a short Uber ride is called for I'm all for it.

Near your hotel? Lou Malnati's and Giordano's are both a short walk north and south on Rush.

Pequod's and The Art of Pizza are two of my favorites. You can Uber to either. Otherwise, you can take the Red Line to Fullerton and walk to Pequod's or the Red Line to Belmont and walk to The Art of Pizza. Both are about 20-minute walks.

Portillo's.

If you don't mind Uber or train, Devil Dawgs near DePaul in Lincoln Park is good, too. You would just take Red Line to Fullerton.

First, people always have the mindset of making reservations for this place far in advance. If you're coming from out of town, this makes sense. However, I've eaten here several times and have always found the best time to make reservations is just a few days before you would like to go. Because reservations are typically made far-out, plans change and times begin opening up as the date of their dinner gets closer. Just my two-cents.

Anyway, the service is awesome. Hostesses, waiters/waitresses and servers are all accommodating and end-to-end knowledge of the food and drink menus.

For the most part, the menu has stayed constant when I've gone.

I don't claim to be a restaurant connoisseur, but the menu has excellent twists.

From the vegetable menu, my favorites are the green beans, cauliflower and broccoli. Have had the shishito peppers before, but I would recommend the aforementioned three.

I'm a big fan of fish. For some reason, though, I rarely order off that menu. When I have, the cuttlefish and shrimp were good.

Two musts off the meat menu are the pig face and pork shank.

Goat ribs and goat belly are my favorite off the goats menu.

It's as freaky as it sounds, but incredibly good.

Behind the scenes of making it...!
