I know trashy blah, blah etc...My sons senior cruise or I would not be going. But tell me its not going to be an awful 7 days

This is your son's only senior trip. Enjoy the time with him and his friends. You're on a cruise, not in an office doing work. Drink a margarita and relax.

When you get to the ports the drinking age is usually 18. Some say it's 7. Those kids are gonna get so wasted. 
Do not miss the boat. If they say 4:00 you better be on the boat.

People can bash Carnival cruises all they want but we did the one out of New Orleans 7 day over Xmas back in 2002 and it is still one of the most relaxing vacations I've ever been on.
With that said, pray no one gets sick!
And I've never done it with kids.

I remember my senior trip on a carnival cruise...my friends and I were pushed back to the boat in wheel chairs in Cozumel after drinking so much. Good luck going as a chaperone!

Lower your expectations and you will have a good trip. Service will be ok, food will be ok, service for drinks where they workers get tips will be good...
