Going to Nashville for the National Beta Convetion for our child to participate ... spouse decided against coming so we are flying. Prices have been about the same online for the past couple of weeks. Have NON FLEX dates.

My question is can travel agents get "educational" discounts or anything? Just thought it might be worth asking .. thinking of Travel Machine in Lafayette if it's an option.

Otherwise will just book through the airline as their prices are the same as online sites.

Sounds like you should be attending the Beta convention instead of your child.

dude, you set yourself up for that, we had to do it, with the advent of all of these discounted airfare/hotel sites I would think you'd do better there, if travel agents even exist anymore, yes they can get better flight prices, for themselves

The only time travel agents are worth it is when you are going to another country. Other than that not so much.

sorry ma'am, I really think you could find some deals on some of the cheap airfare sites, my wife is like a travel agent with those, anytime we have to travel with more than two she gets on those sites and it's almost like they are paying us to fly when she finally makes the deal

btw: travel agents were never about finding the best fare, just pairing up airlines, hotels, and rental car companies that pay them commission, also don't buy any of the "who's who" stuff that you will bombarded with in the near future

As weewee said, just book it yourself. If you tell me the dates i can take a look later and help you book it. Are you leaving from new orleans, laffy, baton rouge?
