Hey mates,
I'm planning a trip to Breckenridge and was wondering if y'all had some suggestions on where's the best place/area to stay. It Doesn't have to be ski in/ski out but looking to not spend $500 a night. Thanks

Check out the Bivvi. It's a nice hostel in Breck. Always young people there. Not far from downtown festivities or the mountain.

Other than that, depends on how many people you have with you. Frisco is a good spot if you don't have to be IN Breck. It has a nightlife in its own. Barkley Ballroom always has some good live music. Plenty of restaurants and bars on Friscos Main Street. I stayed in Frisco with a group of friends before I moved to Colorado. Had a blast and it was super affordable with all of us.

It's sandwiched in the middle of Summit County ski resorts and only a short drive over Vail Pass (if weather and traffic are alright) to Vail and Beaver Creek. Copper is only a few miles down the road from Frisco.

Breck is great. But don't sleep on the other resorts in Summit. Copper, Keystone, and ABasin all hold up to Breck IMO and offer some serious benefits compared to Breck. Less crowds. Easier parking. Faster access to more advanced terrain.

Stay in Breck for sure, go to those other mountains as well to ski. Breck is an actual town with nightlife and restaurants. All those other places are just ski hills without any real town. Or you can stay in Frisco, but the nightlife is a million times better in Breck. Summit Stage buses are free to get around Summit County. Or you can drive to any of those ski hills within about 20-30 minutes from Breck.

Look at Tannhauser, River Mountain Lodge, Park Meadows for cheap lodging. Tannhauser and RML are down in town. Try VRBO too.

I'm also deciding on this for Mardi Gras trip with kids. Usually stay on Main st. Breckenridge so I can walk around town and barhop when single. Want to try Copper or Winter Park hoping it will be less crowded, more laid back for the kids

Going to Breck for the first time the week before Christmas.
Just booked a studio condo on Main St. that's 3 min from the new gondola.
I'll definitely be checking out the nightlife on Main.
It was only $100/night. Staying 5 nights, then 3 more in Georgetown with family.

Got my pass and can't wait to get on the mountains up there.

Stayed at Main Street station in '14 and it was a pretty good price. Nowhere near $500/night. Would recommend and it was a ski in/ski out.

Bumping this to ask for restaurant recommendations. Going in late September. I'd like to eat somewhere that serves elk/bison.

[quote]If you like wild game try this one, Buffalo, Elk Venison Fantastic old bar with a back drop from a real saloon like going back in time. Well operated, great food, good service drinks, wine and dessert, cozy setting, can be busy make reservations.

We just got back and stayed at a condo in Dillon. If interested I can give you the link.

Also, ski A Basin over Breck.

Downstairs at Eric’s has great burgers/pizza.
