So this morning my travelpro crew expanding handle decided to break on me. After one leg of carrying it old school I need a new piece of luggage ASAP. I don't care about the price as much as I do it being great for functionality and no problems as a carry on. Tumi is obviously a top end name, but I have no experience if their products are worth their cost. Any good recommendations?

Rimowa. The Salsa line if you want to keep it light. My wife likes hardshell luggage so she uses one of those. I prefer duffle bags so I carry a Filson.

Here are some ideas

Look for Tumi T-Tech. You can usually find them on sale or clearance racks.

I got my soft side carry-on for $200, my 27" hardside for just under $200, and my 32" hardside for $230.

Those were great; I wonder why they stopped making them. Probably cannibalizing the expensive stuff.

Tumi is definitely worth the money. A little on the heavy side but bomb proof.

Did they shutter the entire brand?

On that note, I will say my 32" is basically useless on a flight. Packed full, that case weighs 60 lbs, easy. It's a hardside that weighs 18 lbs empty, hence the problem.

I have the soft one but DL lets their Medallions check up to 70lbs at no extra cost

Yeah I certainly am looking to hit at the 22" size to maximize carry on space. The Travelpro had done me very well for 5 years, but figured I should upgrade if it's worth it. Searching T-tech's to buy is a lengthy process it seems.

I am the type that likes to research the hell out of purchases and I have a feeling this thread is going to make me extend my buying purchase due to research. There are so many luggage makers that I don't even know

ETA: Garymyman's link just made things worse

Eagle Creek is some of the tougher luggage I've had and has the best warranty in the industry. It's especially good if you buy into their packing system.

I also have Filson stuff, but wouldn't use it for frequent business travel.

Based on personal experience, I'd definitely get 4 wheeled. If you go cheap, I'd avoid Delsey.
