Planing a 6 day trip for Memorial day. Plan is to fly in to San Francisco and out of San Jose. We are thinking of staying one night in San Francisco then drive to Yosemite for a few days and then to Big Sur to complete the trip. Thoughts?

Tickle Pink Inn in Carmel

Tickle Pink Inn Website

If you stay there you can leave early (5:00 AM) and drive south down the PCH and the road is almost all yours for dawn over the land.

Carmel-by-the-Sea is good for shopping if there's a Mrs. Sloopy.

I'm a Steinbeck fan so Monterrey is a big deal for me. The Aquarium is OK, the sea grass portion there is unique.

The Wine Country is all inland, I had the hotel arrange that for me. Recommended.

There's a Hyatt next door in Carmel, I'm sure that staying at either place is wonderful.

I got nothing for Yosemite, you're on your own.

Safe travels.

Dinner at Post Ranch Inn in Big Sur. Its on the edge of the cliffs. If money is no option, then stay there too. Check out their website. Very cool place.

Plan an afternoon for sunset at Pfeiffer Beach in Big Sur. Pack a picnic and get there early afternoon, or you will not get in. They limit the number of people who are allowed in the beach...there is a line to get in, one car out, one car in.

The sunset through the keyhole is absolutely worth it. I am sure you can find hundreds of pictures online, it is amazing. Lots of trails and a rocky beach to explore.

Carmel was so impressive to me, the beach was white sand like Florida and nice blue water. The town was incredible, with each building having such unique architecture. Each home or business had the most manicured gardens, and despite the relaxed atmosphere and gingerbread homes, everything felt very tailored, and upscale.
I wish I would've had and overnight there.
